This just in from Tech Savvy reader Margo:
“CVS has a new offering – Kodak Picture Movie DVDs that you can create in the store at a kiosk. You basically go to a kiosk at CVS to make this video where you can create a slideshow of your favorite photos with music in the background. From July 27-August 2, when you purchase a DVD, you’ll get the same value back in “extra bucks” that can be used towards anything at CVS/pharmacy. So, its essentially free…”
Margo also says, “Its easy for kids to use too (back to school photos, etc.) I think its fabulous for sweet 16’s …all the pleasure without the crazy expense of hiring an expensive videographer to compile – and a great gift for grandparents…”
Being curious, I found a site called I Heart CVS that provides tips on making your Kodak Picture Movie DVDs, song selections, and says you can make up to 3 Kodak Picture Movie DVDs for “free.”
The CVS/Pharmacy site says that customers can bring photos into the store in almost any format (prints, photo CDs, memory cards and USB Flash memory cards). Apparently it only takes minutes to create your picture DVD in the store and you can walk out with your customized keepsake.
And as an FYI- CVS/Pharmacy Extra Care Bucks are for Extra Care customers. The price of the DVD will be credited towards your account and printed out as a coupon for money off your next purchase.
I don’t know about you but when the kids go to bed, I’m loading up one of my flash drives from BlogHer with pics and heading over to CVS to make my Kodak Picture Movie DVD. The only question is what music to choose…I think I’m going to kick it old school and go with Shining Star by Earth, Wind & Fire!
If you go to your local CVS/Pharmacy to make a DVD, be sure to report back about how it went and what song you chose!
Thanks for the tip Margo!

What?! This is an outrage! They are doing for free what I charge good money for?! Please tell me it’s a terrible service so I can continue to make my custom DVD slideshows! 🙂

Don’t worry Stimey! They are only free until August 2 and I bet you have a better music selection!
