Think back to your first computer compared to what you are using now. Is it lighter? Thinner? Faster? It is thanks to constant improvements in technology.
Today AMD set the Guinness World Record for the ““Highest Frequency of a Computer Processor,” by overclocking the upcoming 8-core AMD FX desktop processor.
What does that mean?
It means that AMD developed the fastest computer processor to date. This record-breaking achievement is significant because this technology will eventually trickle down to home computers, making our machines faster than the ones we currently own.
I think back to the first computer I used which was an Apple II+ my mom brought home from her classroom for the summers. Even though it required multiple trips from the car to bring it into the house thanks to the giant hard drive, black and green screen monitor, and 5” floppy drive, I was thrilled to be able have it for games like Lemonade Stand, Oregon Trail, and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego. Even though it was noisy, the disks were huge, and most certainly slow, I can look back and appreciate how far technology has come since then.
AMD wants to celebrate their success with a laptop giveaway!
Since they have achieved one of their dreams, they hope a laptop will help you reach one of yours!
This laptop is the newer version of the dm1z model I reviewed this summer. While it isn’t on the market yet and I haven’t been privy to review it, reports indicate that it is faster, has high quality battery life, and features HP Beats audio system–a unique, high-performance technology developed by HP and Beats by Dr. Dre–which improves base and volume levels with a click of a button. This computer will be available in early October and you could be one of the first to get one!
