Hot or Cold? Honeywell’s Infograph on Gender Wars and Temperature (w. giveaway)

Leticia February 13, 2013 22 Comments »

From the snow that fell in areas north of Philadelphia last week to the chilly temperatures in Minnesota, winter is still here despite the huge temperature fluctuations we’re still experiencing in the DC Metro Area.

Since I work from home and my husband has the option to telecommute, we have separate but equal work spaces, each with our own space heater. It seems to be a waste of money to run the heat in the entire house all day when I tend to stay in my office. Even when my husband is home, he works in his basement office. To heat my second floor office and his basement one, we’d be running our entire heat system all day on the days we both work from home.

db0a9a651e7f9030fbfa53f5dc458476My husband has been using the Honeywell EnergySmart Surround Select Ceramic Heater ($64.99) for his chilly basement office. Easy to use right from the box, this compact heater provides even heat throughout the room thanks to ceramic technology that provides even heat while helping to reduce home energy costs.

Honeywell EnergySmart Surround Select Ceramic Heater features EnergySmart Technology that helps cut energy bills by 35%. The Energy Use Indicator displays the amount of energy being consumed at any time while the heater is on. Bright LED lights on the front of the heater that indicate the temperature of the room compared to the desired temperature on the programmable thermostat to make easy adjustments to save you money thanks to precise controls.

The heater provides different options for heat flow. 360º Surround Heat provides heat in all directions while the 180º directional heat option allows you to channel the heat for personal warmth. Even with the heat output, the top handle stays cool to the touch.

The EnergySmart Surround Select Ceramic Heater is great at heating my husband’s office and even the dog has taken to lying right next to it. Luckily the wide base makes it quite stable so a shifting dog hasn’t ever knocked it over! But even in the event it does tip, it features 360º SafetyTip that will automatically shut it off if tipped in any direction.

After looking at this infograph from Honeywell, I wonder if we shared an office if we would be sparring over the temperature in the room. I tend to think that we like our living spaces to be the same temperature but wonder if my husband would think differently!

When he’s here, it tends to be the hubby who controls it. I can’t complain too much, as it’s easier for the cold person (me) to put on more clothes than for the hot person (him) to cool off. We still go round and round with it, though, putting it up, then down, then up…et cetera.

It’s definitely a battle! In the winter, I like the house cooler because I like to bundle up. My hubs, on the other hand, likes it warmer. So we’re constantly going up and down. He turns it up, and then when I go to bed, I turn it back down!
