We’ve just made our way through the fall season of fundraisers. Wrapping paper, cookie dough, gift items, magazine, candy, and nuts sold in the first couple months of school starting are guilt inducing but I honestly hate buying those items because even though I don’t need them, I feel guilted into doing so. As a parent and former teacher, I know how important each sale is to helping provide needed funds to purchase additional items for teachers or defray the cost of extra-curricular activities. I also know that there are good communication skills that our kids can learn by sharing their fundraising mission with friends and neighbors but sometimes wish the whole process was easier.
If you’re like me and wish that raising money for the causes we’re passionate about was less laborious, more natural than going door to door, and allowed us to purchase things we need rather than more junk, meet FlipGive. FlipGive is an online platform that allows me to shop for what I want and need while supporting fundraising efforts of organizations who have set up fundraiser or campaign pages through the site. I love that giving back has never been easier plus the fact that I’m shopping for items that I can use is a huge bonus!
Even though my kids’ school and organizations are done with fundraising for now, I can always look to see how the brands I’m buying like Lowe’s, Chalkfly, Indigo, Organics Live organic grocery delivery, Ethical Ocean, Dormify, etc. can help an organization currently fundraising through FlipGive. I might want to help a school like Glen Carbon Elementary raise money to help outfit all the classrooms at the school with interactive visual presentation boards, the Humane Society of Sullivan County, Indiana in their efforts to care for stray, abandoned and unwanted animals in their community, or Ferdinand Elementary who raised money to provide all their students with school supplies for the year. It’s great to know that I can shop smart and without guilt for holiday gifts since a portion of every purchase goes directly towards fundraising efforts for schools, sports teams, and other organizations.
Maybe instead of shopping, you want your organization or school to be the recipient of FlipGive funds. Setting up a fundraiser can be done in 3 quick, easy steps!
1. Create your fundraiser: Mom starts a Shop Smart holiday fundraiser in support of her kids school, sport team or cause using FlipGive’s quick and easy tools
2. Invite your family and friends to shop: Through email, social networks, and in-person, she reaches out to her friends and family and earns up to 50% back while they shop for holiday gifts.
3. Put your funds into action: Redeem your funds and put the dollars to work at your school, sports team or cause. Everyone can celebrate the gift that gives.
If you’re thinking about doing a holiday fundraiser, now is the time to start! The first 100 fundraisers that raise $500 by 12/24/13 will receive $50 toward their fundraiser from FlipGive. For more information, visit FlipGive’s Holiday Promotion page.
