I always find myself at my neighborhood CVS to grab items at the last minute. Whether I’m caring for a sick child or picking up forgotten items en route to a potluck, end of season sports gathering, or class party, I always want to get in and out as quickly as possible. I rely on the CVS Pharmacy App to help me manage my family’s prescriptions and the ExtraCare Rewards program to save me money with one quick scan at checkout but now CVS Pay adds payment functionality to the app to streamline shopping even more. Here are 5 reasons to use CVS Pay and a how-to video I made to show you how easy it is to add your credit or debit card to start using it today.
5 Reasons to Use CVS Pay with the CVS Pharmacy App
Nothing New to Download
CVS Pay is part of the free CVS Pharmacy App you already have installed on your mobile device. HOORAY! This integration makes me even happier knowing that I don’t have to download and open another app at the register so I can get in and out of my neighborhood CVS faster.
Saves You Time
The best apps are the ones that have a ton of features, are user friendly, and designed to streamline your life and the CVS Pharmacy app doesn’t disappoint. CVS Pay is welcome feature to an app that already saves time by integrating features like prescription management and the ExtraCare Rewards program with one quick scan at checkout. Besides managing your prescriptions and saving you money, you can also use the CVS Pharmacy app to print photos directly from my phone for same day pickup at the store and order items to be picked up via CVS Curbside Pickup. Yes, you really can order items to be delivered right to your car from within the CVS Pharmacy app to save time. Here’s how!
Saves You Money
The CVS Pharmacy App is a great tool to ensure that you get the best prices possible thanks ExtraCare that automatically sends deals to the app and lets you track and use ExtraBucks Rewards at the checkout. Now when you link CVS Pay to your ExtraCare card, scanning your card at the checkout will process all ExtraCare deals, help you earn new rewards, and handle payment and redemption of ExtraBucks Rewards during your transaction.
Preserves Your Privacy
Without fail, I always run into someone I know at our neighborhood CVS. I’ve always appreciated how the CVS app helps me maintain my family’s privacy. When prescriptions are ready to be picked up, I show the app to the pharmacist who hands me my bag without any words exchanged for others to overhear. CVS Pay continues to preserve privacy by offering a simple, private and end-to-end pharmacy experience. Now you can refill, manage multiple prescriptions, and get push notifications to your smartphone when prescriptions. The CVS Pharmacy app lets you know when your prescription is ready to be picked up and paying with a single barcode not only helps you maintain your privacy, but also saves time.
Lets You Leave Your Wallet at Home
If you’re like me and can walk to your neighborhood CVS, I can leave my wallet at home and just bring my smartphone since I’ve stored my credit or debit cards in the app. Now everything I need to pick up prescriptions, save money through ExtraCare Rewards, and pay can be done in one tap through the CVS Pharmacy app.
How to Set Up CVS Pay
If you’re already using the CVS Pharmacy App, it’s easy to add a credit card or debit card so you can pay directly through the app during your next visit to CVS Pharmacy. Here’s a look at how easy it is to set up.
All verifications for prescriptions and payment – like name/birthdate, signature, and PIN – take place directly in the app, so transactions are hassle free.
Using CVS Pay to Complete a Transaction
Once you’ve linked a credit or debit card to the CVS Pharmacy App all you need to do is open the app and show store associate the barcode in their app. The associate will scan the barcode, ring up your purchases, allow you to choose a payment method from those stored in the app (if you have multiple credit cards stored or a credit and a debit card saved), and then process the payment. If you are picking up an order through the drive-thru, share the pickup number with the associate to retrieve your order. Once you’ve used CVS Pay to complete a transaction, you’ll receive a confirmation of payment in the app.
