In our house, the countdown is on! Only 8 more days of school and 15 days until Brain Chase begins! I’ve written about how Brain Chase is an online learning adventure that prevents brain drain for ages 8-14 and the more I read about it (did you know The New York Times published a company profile of Brain Chase?!), the more excited I get about this flexible way for our two kids to keep up their academic skills this summer.
Benefits of Brain Chase
Far more engaging and interesting than the required summer work packets that come home with each child at the end of the year, Brain Chase is a way that we can fit in supplemental summer learning in between summer camp, time with the grandparents, and dive practice. While it is screen time, it’s educational screen time where age appropriate learning tied to National Standards for learning are presented in the form of a challenge. And who doesn’t love a good challenge that requires you to use all your skills to solve it?
Brain Chase FAQs
- How much time does it take? About an hour a day or as Brain Chase recommends, “five hours of focused online academic work each week for five weeks.”
- What type of internet connection/device do I need? Since Brain Chase is an online challenge, you’ll need a high-speed Internet connection and any web browers. It works with Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari. Kids can complete math, language and reading assignments on tablets. For the writing assignments, it’s recommended to have a desktop or laptop available.
- What if my child falls behind? Brain Chase understands falling behind and summer schedules! They recognize that can be busy! Brain Chase allows students to catch up on missed work from previous weeks, although they won’t be allowed to work ahead!
- How much does it cost? See below!

Teacher Referral Reward Program
If this sounds like something your kids would love, chances are their friends would too! By sharing Brain Chase with your child’s teacher you can help them earn a Staples gift card for each student that signs up! This not only helps other families learn about a great summer learning tool but prevents your child’s beloved teacher from spending their own money on classroom supplies!
How does the Teacher Referral Reward Program work?
Brain Chaise is offering a $15 Staples gift card to teachers for each of their students they refer to Brain Chase. Registrants who hear about Brain Chase from a teacher can simply enter that teacher’s name and school name at registration. The referral rewards can add up to substantial funding for classroom supplies – it’s a great opportunity for a class fundraiser through the PTA or other school organizations.
