I’m the founder of the award-winning Tech Savvy Mama, a site that since 2008, has been helping parents navigate parenting in the digital age.
Hi! I’m so glad you’re here and want to know a little more about me.
I’m an award-winning technology, education, and parenting blogger who founded TechSavvyMama.com. I’m a former middle school computer science and engineering teacher, have taught elementary school, and spent a majority of my career in public school providing professional development to teachers sharing best practices of integrating technology into classrooms. I’ve combined my knowledge of child development, psychology, education, tech and parenting to provide useful advice for families about the digital parenting topics since 2008.
I have a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Tufts University and received my Masters of Science in School Administration and Technology Leadership from Johns Hopkins University. I’m passionate about using my background in teaching and real life parenting experience to help parents fostering a love of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) and guide them towards making decisions about digital devices, and other parenting topics, that are right for them and their children.
I’ve been a columnist for Parents.com, have had my writing syndicated on MSN.com and Scholastic Parents, and written for Common Sense Media. I advise YouTube as a member of the YouTube Kids Parents Panel, serve on the Education Advisory Board for Responsibility.org, and am a Mission Partner for the Center for Parent and Teen Communication.
I’m honored to have been named Parents Magazine’s Editors’ Pick for Best Tech Blog, Babble’s Top 100 Mom Blogs, one of the 50 Top Twitter Moms by Babble, and Mom.me’s 50 Favorite Mom Bloggers. I was also awarded the 2020 Iris Award® for Mom Blog of the Year and am the 2018 Iris Awards® winner for Philanthropic Work of the Year for my work in Haiti. I’m also a St. Jude Hero which means I fundraise, train, and run half marathons benefiting St. Jude Children’s Hospital. You can support me and St. Jude kids and families by donating here!
I’m also the proud mom of a college sophomore and a senior in high school, both of whom are studying engineering in college. I live in Maryland, just north of Washington, D.C., where I unplug to spend time enjoying time outside with my husband and our overly enthusiastic rescue pups- a Golden Retriever Labrador named Goldie, and Murphy, our Chocolate Lab puppy.
The best way to connect is by sending me an email, DMing me Instagram, or following me on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube.
