During a career that has spanned just over ten years of teaching, I’ve had some real lows and incredible highs in and out of the classroom. My first year was filled with lows, beginning with a child falling off the play structure and fracturing his arm on the first day of school, an overly defiant student who spent most of his time sitting under a desk, and a kid who decided it was a good idea to set the school on fire. It was hard to muster up enough courage to go back and face my class each day but somehow I made it through the year thanks to my butterfly folder.
