I have to admit that I loathed algebra, calculus, and chemistry. Even though I loved biology and geometry, I never saw myself entering in to a math or science field because I failed miserably at balancing equations, didn’t understand why variables couldn’t just be real numbers, and never really understood functions, derivatives, and limits.
Despite my dislike of higher level math and science, I love taking a hands on approach to teaching Little Miss Techie and Captain Computer concepts in science, technology, engineering, and math in an age appropriate way.
Please join me for tonight’s Mom It Forward Girls’ Night Out (#gno) Twitter party which will be all about helping your kids learn and love science, technology, engineering and math.
I’m honored to have been selected to participate in this Twitter panel and be in such amazing company that includes @hensoncompany @geekmommy @mommyniri @moneywisemom @mrsmoNJ @pbsparents @simchabe @techmama @thinkmaya @WGBH_Kids @WGBH_STEM and @whymommy!
Here are the details about tonight’s Twitter party courtesy of Mom it Forward:
Helping your kids learn and love STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and math) often feels like a chore. And for some, it can seem overwhelming, especially if you didn’t do so well in those subjects when you were younger. But today, the educational landscape has changed. STEM is taught in a much more hands-on, interactive way. As a parent, taking advantage of opportunities to help your child learn and love these subjects can be as simple as visiting a local children’s museum, taking your kids rock climbing, or talking about gravity when a spill occurs instead of hurrying to wipe it up. Want to learn more tips for helping your kids get excited about STEM, then join the #gno gang along with PBS Kids this Tuesday, March 2 from 9-11 ET (8 CT, 7 MT, and 6 PT)!
