bSafe: One Touch Personal Safety in the Palm of Your Hand

Mobile phones can be lifesavers in case of an emergency but the new bSafe app from Bipper is the ultimate safety device.  This free app allows iPhone, Android, and Blackberry users to alert your trusted network that you are in danger and provides them with your location with a single touch of a button.

While I hope that I’ll never need to use it, I can activate bSafe to appear on my phone when I’m out on a run, walking the dog, at the park with my kids, or walking to my car for instant access to the SOS button.

Within 5 seconds of pressing the SOS button, bSafe allows you to call one contact in your trusted network and text as many contacts as you’d like, notifying them the alarm has been triggered.  The call and text provides the time the alarm was activated and your location.

While the free version provides wonderful peace of mind, additional bSafe features are available through the affordable bSafe Premium.  For $1.95/month or $19.95/year, premium features allow you to call 3 people within your network simultaneously, unlimited texts, and real time tracking of your location using the phone’s internal GPS.

bSafe Premium provides GPS tracking when Risk and Timer Mode are activated for less than $20/year

Two premium features are currently available: Risk Mode and Timer Mode. Risk Mode provides real time tracking and is a feature that is helpful for parents who want to be sure that their kids arrive safely at their destination or for times you are walking alone.  The Risk Mode screen also features one touch SOS to speed dial those in the trusted network if needed. In Timer Mode you set an amount of time for bSafe to track your movement.  If the you don’t sign out in time, the app provides your trusted network with your route.

bSafe provides reassurance through a free easy to use app. Some might appreciate the GPS tracking available and the ability to call 3 people simultaneously instead of just 1 through bSafe Premium.  Both free and premium versions of the app offer unlimited texting to those in your trusted network.

I think that the free version of bSafe is perfectly acceptable but if you want that added layer of safety, I suppose you can’t ever put a price on peace of mind especially if it is less than $20/year.
