Cyberbullying. Sadly, it’s something that is always going on but receives the most attention when tragedy strikes but is something important to talk about as a family sooner than later. By talking, I mean discussing ways to stay safe online. You don’t need to delve into the super scary stuff, especially if it isn’t age appropriate for your kids, but discussing it in a way that makes kids realize that it’s your job to keep them safe in real life as well as online is important.
Tomorrow I’m joining Elizabeth Englander, professor of psychology and founder and director of the Massachusetts Aggression Reduction Center at Bridgewater State University, for Protecting Your Kids from Cyberbullying. As a co-host, I’ll be talking about cyberbullying in a live, all-text conversation on The Motherhood.
Topics that will be discussed during the 30 minute Protecting Your Kids from Cyberbullying session include:
- Whether you should you monitor what your kids do online
- Do you invade their privacy to keep them safe along
- What to do if your kid is being cyberbullied and the school doesn’t do anything about it
- If cell phones increase the chances of your kids being the chance of cyberbullied
