This is a part of a sponsored post campaign with Staples.
I’ve visited my local Staples store many times to shop for school supplies for our kids, sometimes venturing into the technology department to take a look at the electronics and accessories but admit to never stopping to ask about EasyTech Total Support. For the first time last week I stopped at the counter that occupies a large area of the store near the entrance to learn more about EasyTech Total Support.
What is Staples EasyTech Total Support?
EasyTech Total Support is designed to provide complete technology solutions for your home or office to keep your computers running smoothly. Staples EasyTech technicians can help you protect, detect, maintain, and upgrade your machines. They’ll perform services like setting up your PC, removing viruses, backing up your data, recovering information from your hard drive, and regularly tuning up your computer. In-person support available at your local Staples retail store helps you avoid endless hours on the phone with tech support and time spent scouring forums for fixes for your machine.
How does EasyTech Total Support work?
EasyTech Total Support is a plan that can be purchased when you buy your computer from Staples, for a new machine purchased elsewhere, and even existing PCs. Total Support packages are available for 1 or 2 years of protection ($160 for one year, $260 for two).
The purchase of a Total Support package includes:
- Virus removal
- In-store diagnostics
- In-store installs
- Your choice of internet security software (options include Sophos, Norton, Kaspersky, Total Defense, or McAfee)
- SquareTrade Accident Protection Plan that covers drops, spills, and malfunctions, a 1 time battery replacement, and a 2 day service guarantee
If you have good luck avoiding digital mishaps and aren’t interested in SquareTrade protection for your PC, you can still get a year or two of Total Support that will provide internet security and virus protection for your new or existing device for a year or two. One year of Total Support without SquareTrade is $90 while two years is $150 per laptop, desktop, or tablet.
Additional services that can be purchased in addition to the Total Support package include:
- Data transfer to move existing files and data on to your new computer
- Purchase and installation of Microsoft Office 365 Personal when you buy a new PC, Mac, iPad, tablet, or smartphone
- Premier PC setup that includes data transfer, professional software installation, and access to online setup support
Is EasyTech Total Support right for me?
“I have a couple of computer issues that are probably easy, but I’m a nervous Luddite….I need someone to hold my hand and wondered if you do consults, or can recommend someone I could hire.”
The above email came from a regular reader who sometimes emails me with her PC-related tech questions and the above is something that you identify with, you can absolutely benefit from a year or two of Staples EasyTech Total Support!
EasyTech Total Support provides easy access to a trained EasyTech staff member who can help solve your computer problems to keep your laptop, desktop, or tablet running smoothly. It’s great for individuals who feel strapped for time and would like their tech problems to disappear. Total Support allows you to drop off your PC, have it evaluated by a Staples EasyTech team member who will perform a diagnosis, do the necessary fixes, and then call you when your machine is ready to be picked up.
If you don’t feel so tech savvy and worry that you’ll mess up your machine or aren’t confident in your skills, Total Support provides peace of mind thanks to in-person assistance. During the time I was at Staples, I watched an EasyTech help rid a woman’s laptop of viruses while I had Eddie, the assistant manager who helped me set up my new Asus A520 (yes, I could have done this myself but yes, I was testing the service!), explain the difference between Sophos, Norton, Kaspersky, Total Defense, and McAfee to me as if I was an average consumer. As someone who used to work for an antivirus and internet security company, I know my way around security technologies but was pleased with his descriptions of each- providing helpful pros and cons in a way that any consumer could understand.
Summary
As a tech savvy individual who sets up personal devices and those I receive for testing, I was impressed by the Staples EasyTech staff’s level of knowledge and ability to communicate technical issues to their customers when listening in to other conversations they were having with consumers. I put Eddie to the test, asking him questions about virus protection, the cloud, recommendations for tech devices, the most frequent problems he solves for customers, and what he wishes everyone knew to keep their devices running smoothly.
It’s clear that Staples EasyTech Total Support can be a great investment that will help keep your laptop, desktop, or tablet running as smoothly as it should.
EasyTech Total Support from Staples is $160 for one year ($260 for two years) and provides all-around protection from viruses, computer mishaps, and in-store support for one price.
In addition to being compensated to share my experiences, I received a Staples gift card to facilitate the purchase of Staples EasyTech Total Support but all opinions are based on my personal in-store experiences.
