Thanks, Whirlpool, for sponsoring my CES series. Check out the special CES section of their website to see what they’re planning for the kitchen of the future.
How often do you think about the technology behind what makes your appliances work? If the answer is “when they don’t work the way they’re supposed to,” you’re probably not alone. Refrigerators, washers, dryers, and ranges are designed to help us care for our families and we often don’t give them a second thought when they do exactly what they’re supposed to but there’s some amazing innovation that has allowed these products to become even better over time.
This year I have the pleasure of attending the Consumer Electronics Showcase (CES) with Whirlpool® who has a long history of developing products inspired by how we take care of our families. This 100 year old tradition is reflected in their new Every day, care™ campaign (#EveryDayCare) that highlights how Whirlpool appliances make caring for our families even easier even when doing the most routine tasks.
Why does Whirlpool exhibit at CES?
Lots of tech news will be coming out of Las Vegas over the course of the next week. If you’re looking forward to hearing about what television to get next now that you’ve upgraded to a 4K UHD TV, hoping for a wearable that will do exactly what you want all the time, or a pass-through machine a la the Jetsons for easy dressing each morning and wondering why Whirlpool and why the Consumer Electronics Showcase, CES is all about consumer trends in technology.
Last year I used every minute of my time on the CES floor to soak in the year’s hottest trends, scope out innovative technologies, and the best products that would make our lives easier. This included 4K UHD TVs, wearables, connected home, automotive products, and appliances too.
Showcasing interactive experiences and technology innovation
This year Whirlpool will be showcasing future concepts and their 2015 product line that includes home appliances focused on improving how families give and get the care they need with the latest technologies and innovations that make our lives easier without us having to give the most mundane tasks a second thought.
But when you do give technology and innovation some thought and think about how far we’ve come from ice boxes that required a block of ice to keep food cold, washboards for scrubbing laundry, and cooking in a giant fireplace over an open flame, you’ll realize how advances such as induction technology provides efficient cooking and a well designed refrigerator with varying temperature zones can keep your produce fresher longer. Dishwashers or laundry pairs that work to understand the load you’re running helps can save you money thanks to technology that senses what cycle to run and how much water is required to thoroughly clean.
The little acts of washing, drying, cooking, cleaning may seem routine, but they have the power to change the world by using less energy and water while saving us money.
I’m excited about seeing the many innovations by the Whirlpool brand to better understand how their products can help me improve how I give and get the care my family needs to thrive. I love that Whirlpool believes that strong families, of every kind, are the foundation for a better future.
