When we think of technology, we often think of gadgets with screens featuring connectivity through WiFi and/or Bluetooth that make our lives easier but have you ever stopped to think the innovation behind every day objects that has made them better over time? I know I usually don’t think about such improvements either.
Recently while out shopping, I came across a display for a mens’ razor at the end of a health and beauty aisle. An enclosed case featured a razor going over a ball, the head pivoting to demonstrate the how a ball connecting the razor’s handle and the head allows it to move in multiple directions to navigate the contours of the body. As I pushed my cart by the display, I thought about how my current razor doesn’t do that and flashed back to my very first razor- a double bladed all-metal device with a straight non-ergonomic handle whose head didn’t pivot, let alone feature any extras like multiple blades and moisturizing strips. Why I didn’t cut myself more frequently with my old-school razor is a mystery and while I’m thankful for improvements made since then, my past razors are nothing like that new mens’ razor shown in the case.
Luckily that mens’ razor was the male counterpart for the new Venus Swirl, a technologically advanced razor designed just for women that has just come out on the market. The Venus Swirl is the first & only razor with FlexiBall™ technology individually adjusting Contour™ blades to provide multi-dimensional movement for the most flawless shave. Five Contour™ blades cut hair with less force and have finer edges that are the thinnest in Gillette’s history. Water activated MoistureGlide™ Serum provide glide while a Microfine Comb guides hair to blades to prevent stray hairs from being left behind. Besides being just pretty, the violet-hued translucent handle is highly ergonomic for control and maneuverability over tricky knees and other areas that are commonly nicked when using other razors.
Finally. A razor designed by women who understand how important it is to develop a product that addresses the unique curves and contours of the female body and technological advances in favor of flawless skin! Because I think that we can all agree that not all razors are created the same, even ones designed for women.
I know I’ve used my fair share of razors in my lifetime and always like to try new ones when they come out but after awhile, you just know what qualities to look for and the Venus Swirl has all of them plus more! I love that the ergonomic handle provides a good grip that prevents the razor from slipping in my hands in a wet shower. The wide rectangle head that contains the five Contour™ blades provides stability and moisture from the MoistureGlide™ Serum that prevents painful nicks and scrapes that are somehow more painful in the shower as you’re trying to rinse off! And the pivot from the FlexiBall™ technology along with the Microfine Comb ensures that there aren’t any missed spots for super smooth legs because I don’t know about you, but I hate it when there are hairs left behind!
With a razor being something I use every day (yes, I shave every day- even in the winter!), I appreciate the innovations in shaving technology that makes the Venus Swirl a great tool for an even better shave even if I may not think about the engineering and technology behind my smooth legs every time I step out of the shower.
Currently available in food, drug, and mass merchandise stores, the Venus Swirl shaving system (includes 1 razor and 2 blade refills) retails for $12.59. The suggested retail price of a four-pack of refill blades is $20.99. Don’t forget the shaving cream! Olay Violet Swirl shave gel sells for $2.99.
