Transitioning Between School and Summer with Acer’s Iconia Tab 10

Transitioning Between School and Summer with the Acer Iconia Tab 10

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Corning® Gorilla® Glass. The opinions and text are all mine.

I’m often asked “what device do you recommend for my child?” and before recommending a particular brand, I always tell parents to look for durability because accidents happen. And let’s be honest, life happens.

Even the most well-intentioned, careful kids can accidentally drop a device that leads to its demise. Or sometimes it’s not even our kids’ fault. Who knows what rattled around in your purse next to that tablet that led to a new hairline crack or the chipped edge that drives you crazy every time you look at it.

These days as devices are getting lighter and thinner, new screen technology is improving the quality of glass to not only provide better screen resolution but also help protect against bumps and drops. Products like the Acer Iconia Tab 10 A3-A20FHD feature Corning® Gorilla® Glass 4, Corning’s toughest cover glass yet that’s designed to improve damage resistance against sharp contact, such as a drop on asphalt, concrete, and other rough surfaces.

Or even a pool bag.

The Iconia Tab 10: Practical, Portable, and Durable

We’re almost through the transitional weeks between the end of school and summer. Emily and her brother are still bringing home nightly homework and finishing spring sports (soccer and baseball) while heading to the pool right after school for summer dive practice.

We’re juggling the best we can to ensure a strong finish to the school year as the kids complete worksheets and access websites for online assignments poolside during the 15 minute intervals of adult swim. One device that has proved essential is the Iconia Tab 10.

This slim tablet is highly portable and perfect for slipping into our pool bag for math fact review and online homework assignments. The 10.1″ Full HD display features Zero Air Gap technology for bright color and detailed, crisp images, both indoors and out. Gone are the days where tinny sounds emanate from portable devices. The Iconia Tab 10 has Dolby sound to accompany our 8 year old’s math fact practice using favorite apps or a portable cinematic experience on those days where afternoon thunderstorms delay the start of practice and we’re huddled under an umbrella trying to avoid getting more drenched.

The Iconia Tab 10 serves as a dedicated tablet that the kids can use for homework poolside where the potential for damage is high. Wet fingers straight from the pool might let our Iconia Tab 10 slip but Gorilla Glass 4 helps me worry less about the possibility of itslipping out of their damp hands on to the concrete pool deck under their feet. Tossing our Iconia Tab 10 into our pool bag at the end of practice could also be disastrous given how many other things we throw in there. The screen often bumps up against stainless steel water bottles, half eaten bags of snacks, and who knows what else but always emerges without a scratch and comes clean with a simple wipe thanks to the anti-fingerprint coating.

The Acer Iconia Tab 10 A3-A20FHD-K8KX has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $249.99 in the U.S. Additional models are available in the U.S. and Canada. More details can be found at http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/series/iconiatab10.

How Would a Device with Gorilla Glass 4 Help You Through Your Hectic Day?

Savvy consumers know that not all devices are made the same and we’ve all heard horror stories about new devices being dropped once and screens shattering instantly. Devices featuring Gorilla Glass 4 screens are a worthwhile investment because they’re proven to survive more drops, falls, and potential damage from regular use than those without.

Laboratory tests prove the effectiveness of Gorilla Glass 4 against drops. Studies show it survives up to 80% of the time when dropped from 3 feet high.

Could a device with Gorilla Glass 4 outlast sticky fingered toddlers who have a tendency to drop tablets just as often as tweens and teens who toss them aside, without looking to see where they might land first?

Yes! Not only does Gorilla Glass 4 dramatically improves protection against drops and is better able to withstand damage from drops, but it’s also 2x tougher than competitive glass designs.

I know that when my kids pull out the Acer Iconia Tab 10 that I can breathe a bit easier knowing that this high performing, portable device is also durable thanks to great features like Gorilla Glass 4, Dolby 10 surround sound, an anti-fingerprint coating, and aluminum rear cover that will help t last through our family putting it through its paces.

Corning® Gorilla® Glass has been used on more than 3 billion devices from 40 major brands. Is it on yours? Click here to find out.

My best advice to parents of college students? Whe My best advice to parents of college students? When they say “you should come” - GO! ✈️

Over the last 4 years it’s been so wonderful to be invited for glimpses of Emily’s life on campus. I’ve been welcomed by her amazing friends who have become part of our family, met the professors, faculty & staff she talks so fondly of, and gotten to know fellow parents through trips to Family Weekend all while enjoying time with my best girl. 💕

Today I’m heading home as a proud mom with a full heart for all that I’ve experienced on campus during her college years and am in disbelief I’ll be back for graduation next week. 🥹

I continue to be in awe that we put something in space that existed up there for 5 months. 🥰 Our CubeSat took photos 📸 and tweeted 🐦‍⬛them out as we hoped it would thanks to the many students (and parents!) who have been involved in our meaningful real-world hands-on STEM project that enabled them to learn about technology and space over the past 11 years.

I found some old notes from a 2015 meeting and under Questions, I wrote: “If we are successful, would we do this again?”

And the answer is yes! 🎉 Here’s to SilverSat 2.0 and involving more kids to dream up a new mission for our next Silver Spring CubeSat! 💕

Happy #MedalMonday to everyone who ran a race over Happy #MedalMonday to everyone who ran a race over the weekend and is adding new race bling to their collection! 🎉 I did a thing this weekend too but it didn’t involve another race! 😂Here’s the before, swipe ⬅️ for the after!

Inspired by seeing @allytbrett_runs ’s race medals, I did a little medal reorg that makes my OCD self happy. 🙌🏼Pro tip- Instead of sliding the bar of the medal rack through the ribbon, I looped the ribbon around the bar so all the medals face forward! This small thing made a huge difference and makes me happy every time I walk into my office!💕

My next race is the 25th anniversary @stjude Memphis Marathon Weekend on December 5th. I’m thinking this anniversary year medal will be the start of a new medal rack, just like my 15th anniversary medal started this collection.🫶🏼

If you want to run Memphis with me, race registration is open! Comment Memphis and I’ll DM you the registration link and happy to answer any and all race ❓s!

Race medals are great but charity bling is better! Race medals are great but charity bling is better! 🏅When I first started running for @stjude 10 years ago, I thought I’d be one and done but here I am- 15 races later and having raised almost $50,000! 🎉

The goal has always been to help end childhood cancer and I feel so fortunate to have met the most amazing people along the way. My fellow @stjudedc Hero Ambassadors are a group of dedicated baddies who I adore. 🥰

We cheer for each other on and off the course and as my friend & fellow DC Hero Ambassador @jess_santora says, “My goal was never just to reach the finish line- it was to help more people get there too.” 🏃🏻‍♀️

Here’s to more races, more money raised for St. Jude, and forever friendships! Already excited (and fundraising) for St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend this December. ✨Fundraising link in bio and donations of any amount are appreciated to help me reach my $4,000 goal! 🙏🏼

When Team @otfsilverspring gets out of the studio When Team @otfsilverspring gets out of the studio for @runrockandroll DC! 🎉 Today 20 of us got out from under the orange lights and crushed 5Ks and half marathons to benefit @stjude kids and families as St. Jude Heroes.💪🏼

I am so proud of each and every one of us and especially incredibly grateful that OTFSS members said yes to running today! 🥰

We fundraised, trained, and ran to give families hope that their kids will survive childhood cancer and to support researchers as they work towards a cure for childhood cancer and other life threatening diseases. 💕

As a mom of 2, I know no parent should ever have to hear “your child has cancer” so thank you Team OTFSS for supporting St. Jude’s mission by running the streets of DC! We did it and I’m already looking forward to next year’s RNR DC race so we can do it again!🧡🧡🧡
