I admit that we’re not a family that has ever been obsessed with superheroes. We know who is part of the Marvel Universe and the members of The Avengers, but we’ve never rushed out to see the latest movies as they’ve come to theaters and my kids haven’t ever wanted to be the characters for Halloween. So, when Feld Entertainment invited me to a press preview of the brand-new Marvel Universe LIVE! Age of Heroes last month, I went wondering if I would enjoy it as much as a true fan would and the answer is yes.
As a fan of live performances and great stories where good triumphs over evil, I realized that Marvel Universe LIVE! brings the action, thrills and grandeur of Marvel to a live action show. The talented super human cast dazzles audiences incredible jaw-dropping stunts that showcase the powers of the remarkable Marvel Super Heroes right before the audiences’ eyes. Here are just some of the reasons why I loved Marvel Universe LIVE! Age of Heroes and think you will too.
6 Reasons to Take Your Kids to See Marvel Universe Live! Age of Heroes
A Classic Story of Good Versus Evil
Everyone loves a story that involves good versus evil and Marvel Universe LIVE! Age of Heroes will have you cheering for the Guardians of the Galaxy as Doctor Strange calls upon them to join forces with Marvel Super Heroes and The Avengers. Together they embark on a momentous crusade against the scheming Nebula who teams up with villains Loki and Green Goblin. Kids and parents alike will like watching as the superhuman forces of Iron Man, Thor, Black Panther, Hulk and Black Widow unite in clashes that pit student against mentor, sister against sister and brother against brother.
Non-Stop Action Will Keep Kids Engaged in the Plot
In an age where it seems like our kids are glued to their screens, Marvel Universe Live! Age of Heroes is family friendly live entertainment that immerses families in non-stop action. Movie-style thrills that keep you on the edge of your seats from start to finish as you’re transported from the streets of New York City, tropics of the Savage Land, and to the corners of the galaxy. Vast projection mapping, remarkable pyrotechnics and cutting-edge special effects add to the story and enhance every scene in the live action show.
Stunts Will Inspire Fans of All Ages to Get Active
The show’s plot plus the dynamic athleticism and skills of the cast allow the super hero powers of Marvel characters to come to life. After walking through some of the fight sequence choreography with cast members and learning the moves of Wasp, I learned how much each cast member has to remember for their part in the show. They also shared the kinds of signals they give one another in case they forget one of the many moves to be performed to avoid getting hurt on stage.
Besides the stunts, there are also aerials. Spider Man flies through the air with ease while other performers climb and twist their bodies in ribbons of fabric that float down from the ceiling.
Let’s just say that my half marathon training doesn’t prepare me to be an aerial performer!
Watching a rehearsal of the Savage Land Bike Stunt Scene, I had a much better understanding of the physical demands of the show.
There is a high level of trust and communication involved between the performers involved in fight scenes to ensure that their timing is perfect so no one gets hurt. I was also blown away watching a rehearsal of the Savage Land Bike Stunt Scene where the incredible choreography of the characters zooming around on stage is well practiced but looks effortless to those watching.
The Female Characters Are Just as Strong as the Male Ones
As a mom of a boy and girl, I love stories that showcase strong women who can be role models for my daughter and son. The women who play Black Widow, Wasp, and other female characters in Marvel Universe LIVE! Age of Heroes are amazing. They train just as hard as the men and do all their own stunts throughout the show whether they’re on bikes, in the air, or engaging in stunt combat on stage.
Fashionistas will Love the Costumes
Just like other Feld Entertainment productions such as Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey, Disney on Ice, Sesame Street Live, and other shows, all Marvel Universe LIVE! Age of Heroes costumes are handmade by talented costume designers.
Develop a Love of Live Entertainment
It’s one thing to go to the movies for stunts and action sequences that superheroes perform on the big screen but there’s nothing like live entertainment. Live entertainment such as Marvel Universe LIVE! teaches kids how to be good audience members in an age appropriate way thanks to characters they love in a fun setting. Through performances such as Marvel Universe LIVE! kids can learn why it’s important to be quiet during the show, when it’s appropriate to clap, the importance of staying in your seat, and to focus on the stage so you don’t miss a second of the action.
Because of the story, action, stunts, and costumes, Marvel Universe LIVE! Age of Heroes is a great family friendly performance to see together to teach or reinforce how to be a good audience member and how special it is to see live entertainment. The venue is perfect to get kids acquainted with how to be a good audience member so they can enjoy theater performances as they grow up.
