In 2008 when I started TechSavvyMama.com, I sought out to share my knowledge and expertise about technology and education for fellow parents. I knew how to write and had experience building websites but there were many other things I’ve had to learn as an entrepreneur.
For so many years I’ve run this site solo, but I’ve always thought about pivoting to a collaborative site with more contributors. There’s always the possibility of expanding as I look to the future of my small business.
But just like learning about personal branding and social media platforms that have come and gone, it’s important to consider what my business might need as it grows.
It’s hard to ignore the importance of healthcare during a pandemic because we know COVID-19 will leave lasting changes to the workplace.
Premera Blue Cross engaged 1,000 Washington workers to understand how their employers have reacted to the pandemic. Their latest white paper about Post-Pandemic Business Resilience found employees are hurting financially, emotionally, physically, and in every other sense.
Research found employees are stressed, anxious, and working harder than ever. 1 in 5 respondents said that they would consider changing jobs for better healthcare benefits because they are so important right now.
28% of respondents reported feeling like they feel they have to be available 24/7. 24% worried they could lose their jobs and have to search for new opportunities in a new environment.
I’ve always worked from home running my business and during a time where work from home has become the norm, I want to make sure my employees feel supported. Flexible work hours, understanding childcare responsibilities, and healthcare benefits can make employees feel valued and less stressed knowing that their needs are understood.
As I think of what’s next for me and my site, I’ve been exploring healthcare options designed for small businesses. Ideally, I’d want a health plan that works harder for my staff. It’s important for me to have healthcare that supports my employees so they can help my business succeed. Investing in my colleagues is an important investment in my business.
Premera Blue Cross business solutions can make a difference for me, my business, my future employees, and my bottom line. Their comprehensive plan options can be scaled to support every stage of a growing business. I appreciate that their appealing, yet budget-friendly, benefits packages are designed to help attract and retain talent.
Even though I may just be at the visioning and research phase of my small business, it helps to know what options exist when I’m ready for the next step.
