1. As my daughter is only 2 I haven’t purchased a cell phone for her yet. though she has a toy one.
2. Mainly who she is going to call.Plus there’s been some talk about the possible harmful effects of cell phones, esp on children. It’s not proven but who knows?
3.That plan sounds great! It’s a good way to monitor what your child is up to and who they are calling.
1. Not yet, still too young to properly use it.
2. That the bills would be massive or that it would get lost or broken
3.I would because it would let me keep track of his calls.

1. Not yet, my oldest will be 11 & we are hoping to get her a phone really soon. I had originally planned on getting one this summer but hasn’t worked out yet.
2. My biggest concern is her losing it, then doing things that aren’t a part of the plan or cost a lot of money like tons of texts, internet access, taking pics & sending them, etc. It would all depend on my plan though on how much I’d worry about. I’m not concerned about who she is talking to at this point, but in a few years that will probably be my top concern.
3. Yes because I like the idea of limiting services & using it like a reward plan.
Both of our sons have had cell phones at the age of under 18. At first, we had some problems with over usage of minutes and they had to personally pay it with their own money! It is great to know about the “Family Allowances” Program that keeps track of their calls, minutes, etc. Thanks very much…..Cindi

Our kids are under 7, so we haven’t purchased them a cell phone.
What concerns me most about giving them a cell phone is the cost involved if they go over their minutes. (I once ran up a $500 phone bill when I was a teenager, so I know a little bit about this. Man was I in trouble!)
I would definitely want to use something like family allowances, not only to control cost, but to control what was being downloaded to the phone.
Nope, haven’t given them cell phones yet. I’m concerned about them losing contact with the real world around them and only focusing on the phone if I give them a cell phone. Yes, I would consider family allowances. I’m already on T-Mobile, so that would be a natural.
1. We have cell phones for our 12 and 14 year old kids. With all of the after school activities and visits to friends’ houses, it sure is nice to be able to contact them with ease.
2. While not knowing who they are communicating with might be a big concern, our daily challenge is hoping that they don’t lose or break their hand sets.
3. We are on a Verizon family plan which allows us to block the premium services. The T-Mobile plan sounds like it might provide more detailed control of our lines.

1. My girls are too young to need a phone yet. They are either within my visial range or they are at their respective schools.
2. My girls are so young that it would be a matter of using it correctly. Is there a cell phone out there that just has a few speed dial options for home/mom/dad/etc and nothing else. You know, point and click.
3. We’re not at the stage yet to purchase a plan like this yet, but if my kids were older this type of plan would be exactly what I’m looking for.
1. yes, he’s 13 and i have given him a cellphone.
2. going over the phone minutes and text allowances.
3. yes because i like how much control you have over your childs phone use.
