Taste This! Cookbook by Gina von Esmarch ($30) – Simple tasty food with fresh ingredients is the mantra in our house so I’m always on the lookout for wonderful new cookbooks that will meet my criteria. One new cookbook I adore is Taste This! Author Gina Von Esmarch’s new book is filled with delicious easy to follow recipes whose everyday ingredients are probably pantry staples. I love that none of the ingredient lists for Gina’s 65 recipes are long. The layout is very friendly with the recipes on the right side and a gorgeous picture of the dish on the left. The pictures certainly are fun for my children to see and serve as great visuals for the finished product. Available from BowlLicker.com.

GIVEAWAY: See’s Candies– If mom has a sweet tooth like me, only See’s will do. I absolutely adore See’s and you will too after you taste their delectable chocolates. Win a $25 gift certificate to choose your own custom mix or pick a selection of goodies from their website.

I recently received a Currents & Acai soy based multi-wick candle with three wicks that is housed in a glass container with a shiny silver lid, and has a burn time of 35 hours. Being a fan of candles that don’t overpower the room, I have to say that the scent is marvelous and makes a great kitchen candle. For the Snap Happy Mom:

GIVEAWAY: CVS Photo Center has a wide selection of gifts that make it easy to take all those digital pictures and do something with them. We recently had professional photos taken by the very talented Aleksandra Gajdeczka (highly recommended to you DC Metro families!) and transformed a family photo into a photo canvas. CVS has affordable gifts that even a procrastinator can make in time for delivery for Mother’s Day! Win a photo book from CVS Photo Center by commenting below!

Casio Exilim Digital Camera ($249)- This 12 MP camera just arrived on my doorstep for me to review and already I love its compact size, huge 2.7” screen and cool features. I don’t know of any other camera that has anything like Dynamic Photo which allows the photographer to cut out the main subject of interest in an image that has just been captured and then combine it with another image to form the background! Look for a full Tech Savvy Mama review soon!

T-Mobile Cameo Digital Picture Frame ($39.99 plus $1.99/month service)- This is something Tech Savvy Daddy reviewed over the holidays and I just loved because of the ability to e-mail pictures to the frame. Yes, e-mail pictures to the picture frame! The ability to share pictures by sending them to the frame makes this a wonderful gift for a long distance relative who loves seeing pics of your kids! I also like that it functions as a wireless mouse but has a snap-in receiver that plugs into your USB port to help conserve battery life. Win a Mobile Mouse in the color of your choice!

Eye-Fi– While I haven’t tried this myself, I love the idea that Eye-Fi allows users to instantly upload pictures and video to wifi networks and sites like Flickr and Picasa. As much as I love my digital camera, when I plug it in, the pictures go directly into my photo library and I have to transfer them into Picasa. Perhaps Eye-Fi would save me some time by eliminating that final step.

Allyn is a mother and educator who wrote her book to help parents create memories through reading stories aloud. I highly recommend placing this indispensible guide on your bookshelf along with Barry Brazelton because it provides an annotated list of over 300 titles that address childhood themes and provides recommendations for children at every age from birth to 10 years.

GIVEAWAY: Little Scholastic’s books are a favorite in our house. Captain Computer has been in love with the titles that we have from the Little Scholastic line because the books features rhyming, repetitive, or predictable text, interactive components, and familiar subjects which are formatted to delight babies, toddlers, and parents. I like giving the Little Scholastic books as baby gifts because each book has a guide for parents on how to introduce the concepts to kids depending on their age on the back. Win a bundle of Little Scholastic books by commenting below!

The Amazing Adventures of Working Girl
by Karen Burns ($14.95)- Little Miss Techie was born and I bid adieu to the work world in favor of staying home. A year and a half later, I was back only to leave in another year when Captain Computer was born. So in my 5 years as a mom, I’ve been a SAHM, WAHM, WOHM, and PT WOHM. Regardless of what mom acronym you currently are and what stage of your career you are in, Working Girl offers practical advice in an easy to read format for all women. OverBoard Waterproof Gadget Cases
from ThinkGeek ($24.99-34.99)- Even though these gadget cases are designed to be use for cameras, GPS systems, and MP3 players, I highly recommend that iPhone users get one. I’ve had two friends whose iPhones have gone for a swim and while one recovered, the other one has died a water logged death, making it a very expensive iPod Touch. Don’t let that happen to your mom’s beloved iPhone!

Mothers day came a bit early this year. My husband already got me a 3 stone diamond ring for no reason, so I told him no mothers day/b-day gifts, which happens to be the same day this year.

Thanks again for hosting another great giveaway! I would love a box of See’s Candies, or one of those children’s music CDs to add to the rotation in the car.

I would have to say the best Mother’s Day gift was one that I gave my mom two years ago. There are so many creative ways to use digital photos now, and I ordered a custom pillow case, woven with my daughter’s baby picture. We live very far away and only get to visit once a year, so it was great for my mom to be able to look over at her couch, and almost imagine her little granddaughter sitting there, with a big smile on her face.

The 1-800 flowers gift certificate, bracelet, or cd would be the tops on this list.

    April 26, 2009 at 9:19 am

My best Mother’s Day was the year that I was pregnant with my son. That was the year that I saw my own mother in a new light and the respect that I had for her grew exponentially. I wasn’t yet a mom but I could finally recognize all of the sacrifices that she made for our family and could use her example for what was to come in my own. We didn’t do anything special like exchange gifts or go to dinner. We just talked about the life I had within and how she would be there for me with this new arrival. She didn’t have any special insight or clever stories. She just kept telling me that she would be there when I needed it and she always has and always will.

In honor of that, she would love the Trufflebeads. What can I say, she’s a Mom but she’s an eccentric woman first!

Happy Mother’s Day to you, Tech Savvy Mama….

I think my best mothers day gift to was the digital photo frame I had got for my step mother in law. I never get professional photos but always have digital ones and she takes a lot of digital ones as well. She loved it. I’d given it to her a bit early and it was a good thing because she was just about to buy one for herself…

And I am dying to taste Sees Candies. I have never had one but keep hearing so much about them.

I found your blog through a Stimeyland link. I’d love the truffe bead bracelet. My favorite gift is a drawing the kids did at Nursery school, and the teacher made it into a pin. I loved wearing those goofy, charming pictures to work. Other great gifts are any meal that I don’t have to cook!

Today we’re celebrating National Rescue Dog Day Today we’re celebrating National Rescue Dog Day because we’re so glad Goldie and Murphy are part of our family! 🐶 We gave Goldie her forever home when she was 6 months old. She had been given up by her original family because she was just too much for them. She was an enthusiastic pup who loved to jump straight up in the air when she got excited and she used to hop the fence in the mornings to go visit her best dog friend, Katy, over our back fence. She still jumps from standing when she sees a deer, meets a favorite dog friend, or gets a visit from @lisatasch but now at age 5, she’s more calm and forever faithful. 🦮We met Murphy and his 9 brothers and sisters just days after he was born although we didn’t know he would be the puppy we’d claim as ours. Murphy has that puppy energy but in his quiet moments is a total love bug. He hogs the free space in our king bed (he even has his own pillow!) and loves nothing more than to press his body into me or lie directly on me. 🐾 Goldie and Murphy came to us through @labrescuelrcp and we couldn’t be happier that they’re part of our family! ❤️ #rescuedogday #labrescue #labrador #adoptdontshop
After 3 days at St. Jude Children’s Research Hos After 3 days at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, I’m leaving Memphis so very grateful to be able to support St. Jude’s mission of working to end childhood cancer. ❤️ Spending time connecting, brainstorming, and absorbing the wisdom of fellow Hero Ambassadors from around the country was inspiring because the work we do fundraising through our endurance events helps St. Jude do the incredible work they do to ensure families never receive a bill for their child’s treatment, housing, travel, or food and continue important research that will continue to reduce rates of pediatric cancer and other childhood diseases. I am so looking forward to running in Memphis again this December! 🎉 If you’ve ever thought of running a race that does so much good in the world, join me! I’d love to have you come to Memphis and run with me! Or you can always donate through the fundraising link in my bio. ❤️ #stjude #stjudeheroes #memphis #stjudedmv
