MobiStories makes wonderful virtual books. Rick Toone, MobiStories’ creator, doesn’t think that their books “should replace a parent hugging a child and reading a book together” and designed their site to give kids another way to read. I think MobiStories is a great way to help motivate reluctant readers and provides kids with another way to listen to stories.
In honor of today being National Train Day, MobiStories is giving away a free download of their virtual book Train by Chris Demarest. Select from PC or Mac versions, versions for your iPhone or iPod classic, or an audio file. Click here and enter code train 052009 at checkout for your free book which is currently a Captain Computer favorite!
If you happen to miss downloading Train for free, you might want to check out Kristie Finnan’s Mommy’s High Heel Shoes. This charming book is a perfect tale for young children about moms and all of the different kinds of shoes (rather than hats!) they wear for their many different roles. It is a delightful story that discusses why parents work while celebrating working moms, family bonds, and lots and lots of shoes! Download a copy of the book from MobiStories or use the code Twitter for 15% off a copy of the book on Kristie Finnan’s website.
