T-Mobile Mom to Mom Quiz Redefines Parenting Styles

What kind of parent are you? Thanks to T-Mobile’s Mom to Mom quiz, parenting types have been redefined. Gone are the 4 parent types I learned about in my college psychology classes well before the thought of having my own kids crossed my mind. Most of the terms (indulgent, authoritarian, authoritative, and uninvolved) with their negative connotations, made me cringe. After all, would you classify yourself as an indulgent or permissive parent? Are you the highly demanding authoritarian type who always orders your kids around? Or worse yet…Uninvolved!

I didn’t think so!

The new parenting styles are sassy, fun, and determined by a quick and easy 10 question quiz that deals with how you would handle real life situations.

As the mom of a 5 and 2 ½ year old, I had fun fast forwarding into the future and thinking about how I might handle situations like Little Miss Techie wanting a car when she gets her license, Captain Computer dating, wanting to take a year off before college, or embarrassing my kids by dropping them off at the movies. Before I was too scared by the possibilities of the teenage years, the quiz was over.

I suppose I wasn’t really surprised that my parenting style is that of a Terrific Teach. The teacher in me is always seizing teachable moments and encouraging Little Miss Techie and Captain Computer to explore the world.

 

Will you be a Terrific Teach like me? Or are you more of a Free to Be parent who lets your kids learn from their mistakes and allows them to embrace what they love?     They are so right on… I do not have a teenager yet! I have a pre-teen and 3 almost six year olds. I have to be Ms Sargent Strict or they will run over me. I am already out numbered! Survival is the only way in this busy household!

    I was so stoked to be a Terrific Teach like you! I laughed out loud at the question about the boy figuring out how much gas it would take to visit his girlfriend twice a month, classic!

    Pretty funny actually, I got sgt strict & that is so not me. I’m one of the most lenient parents. I think a lot of my answers were more because of money issues then anything else, lol. I guess being broke makes you strict, lol.

    My parenting style is Free to Be. Does that mean my kids will grow up to be axe murderers?

    I already have a phone, so don’t need to be entered, but just wanted to find out what kind of a mom I was. 🙂

    I am 20% Sgt. strict, 20% quick wit, 13% terrrific teach, 5% best buds and 5% free to be.
