These days it seems like more and more companies are developing smartphone applications for edutainment (or educational entertainment) purposes. Smartphones such as T-Mobile’s myTouch, iPhone, Verizon Droid, Nokia, and Palm, have dedicated marketplaces where developers are constantly creating new content available for download.
There are some fabulous educational applications that exist and others that look great but don’t provide a lot of substance. Unfortunately not all apps have ‘lite’ or trial versions for you to try before you buy so I’m going to share some of my family’s favorites that were put through rigorous testing by Little Miss Techie and Captain Computer and are truly worth every penny.
So if the holidays brought you your coveted iPhone or iPod Touch or a nice gift card to the iTunes store, I am dedicating a good part of this month to reviewing apps for Apple devices and can help you whittle away that gift card balance down to about nothing. You can thank me later. I’ll also be reviewing some new accessories to go with your iPhone/iPod!
Speaking of smartphones, I’d love it if you’d check out my most recent post on the LeapFrog Community called Smartphones: Edutainment at Your Fingertips. Thanks!
I am not responsible for any of debt incurred through excessive downloads of apps through the iTunes store! I was not compensated for mentioning any of the above smartphone companies nor was I paid for the link to the LeapFrog Community although I am paid to write for them.
