Are your kids enthralled by those huge air pillows that cushion the contents of packages that arrive at your doorstep? Do they obsess over popping every single bubble on a sheet of bubble wrap? Do they take recycling to a different level by squirreling boxes away for pretend play?
Mine do and despite the great technology we have in our home, I find that low tech toys always provide cheap thrills!
Read why in my most recent Washington Times Community post.

When Amazon boxes come (the standard size for books/dvds) we use a razor blade to cut off all the rectangle sides. The kids use them to build. They have so much fun! This is better for older kids. 6+ The pieces are easy to store and play with.
How true! Deliveries and the kitchen (think tupperware, measuring spoons and cups) provide the most preferred toys in our house. When it comes to “high tech” mom or dad’s cell phone and computers rank right up there though 🙂
Oh, yes. My son thinks everything in the house is a potential toy! Cardboard boxes, packing materials, sticks from outside, carabiners clipped together – heck, he even runs off with the dog leashes: ties them to trees, ties them around his waist to make a holster for his sticks (see above). Gotta love that creativity!
