Congratulations to Kelly who won a custom Tree of Life pendant that will be handmade by Black Mountain Jewelry!
Black Mountain Jewelry is a company that I’ve fallen in love with because of their gorgeous designs that use beautiful materials, concern about how their jewelry making practices impact their local environment, and because founders, Mark and Carla Mead, are just always so wonderful! Mark and Carla hand make all of their incredible pieces out of reclaimed and recycled materials, purchase responsibly sourced gems from companies whose mining practices don’t violate human rights, and give 5% of each sale to children’s charities like Jewelers for Children.
Mark and Carla are truly dedicated to their craft and each piece is made with tons of love. I have their Sonora Star Western Heart Pearl Choker with a heart pendant and whenever I wear it, I always get compliments on its beauty. I love the vivid colors, knowing that my pendant is unique, and the fact that Carla added thoughtful details like an extender chain so I could adjust the length and took the time to enclose a thoughtful handwritten note that was in the package.
In honor of Mother’s Day, Black Mountain Jewelry is honoring one lucky Tech Savvy Mama reader with a custom Tree of Life Pendant. The Tree of Life jewelry line is made from 100% recycled metals and fair trade gemstones. This collection was designed to help people find strength, feel connected and to celebrate life in a way that becomes possible when you have a tangible talisman, a physical reminder you can touch and be reminded of what touches you.
GIVEAWAY: One reader will receive a custom Tree of Life Pendant made of sterling silver, 14k gold, and semi-precious stones (code TCS1) of their choice. The charm can have up to 7 smaller accent stones to symbolize their children on 18″ sterling snake chain. This meaningful jewelry amulet is semi-custom with a birthstone on the front and custom stamping on the back (if you choose not to add extra stones) and has a minimum value of $175.

Carla says that they “have many different customers – mom’s, nurses, survivors- and they share their stories with us. Recently I sent out one to an old dear friend. We put her stone in the roots of the tree and her three children in the branches. She lost one of her children who’s stone we set in the human heart in the branches – because he’s always in her heart.” Isn’t that just beautiful?

tree of life actually has a religious meaning to me because it is a concept used in Judaism a lot.

I love jewelry that reminds me of my children. I have a bracelet with my family’s names on it, and it makes me happy every time I see it. I imagine this necklace would make me feel the same.
So gorgeous! I would love one to remind me of how we have roots in our family, but are free to grow in our own way (and the same is true of my child). And, it’s just lovely.
I love family jewelry. The tree of life holds a lot of symbolism for me, as it is a Biblical reference to eternal life, and as such, reminds me of God’s great love for me. But it also reminds me of a family tree, and the life that we perpetuate as we give life to our children, and in turn, our grandchildren and so on. That life is rooted in love which brings me back to the symbol of God’s love. So beautiful!

To me, the tree of life symbol is a representation of life and growth, which are a gift from God. I would put my daughter’s birthstone under this as a reminder of what a true gift of life she is.

This necklace is so beautiful. What a beautiful way to keep your family close to your heart
I’d say the tree of life symbolized the roots of a family. Nothing is more important than the ones you love!

To me the Tree of Life stands for family. I have a big family and our roots go deep!
The Tree of Life symbolizes the family tree to me–and how solid and reliable our families’ roots are (or should be!).
The tree of life to me means the family tree, and reminds me of my family. It also reminds me of the giant tree of life at Animal Kingdom in Disney World, our favorite family vacation place.

The Tree of Life reminds me of my family, living and deceased.
When I saw it, I immediately thought of my mother who passed away 7 years ago. she loved the outdoors and gardening and you could often find her under a tree. It would be a lovely piece of rememberance with her birthstone.
