Feeling stuck at home? Climb on board The Magic School Bus for a free virtual field trip to the Liberty Science Center from the comfort of your own home on Tuesday, April 20 at 1 pm EST.
Ms. Frizzle, everyone’s favorite science teacher from The Magic School Bus series, will join author Joanna Cole and illustrator Bruce Degan to celebrate Earth Day. For their live webcast field trip to the Liberty Science Center, The Friz (as she’s affectionately called by her students) and her class will get to the bottom of climate change, and find out what kids can do to help through fun interviews with the Magic School Bus.
This free webcast also corresponds with the launch of the newest Magic School Bus book: The Magic School Bus and the Climate Challenge. If you aren’t familiar with The Magic School Bus series, teacher Ms. Frizzle has a Magic School Bus that transforms into anything from an airplane to a bumblebee that allows her to take her class on unforgettable field trips that let them investigate the mysteries of science up close – sometimes too close!
In their latest adventure, Ms. Frizzle’s students are putting on a play about global warming, and they need some cold, hard facts. The Friz hops on the Magic School Bus and takes the kids on a whirlwind tour that takes them from the Arctic to the equator where they see telltale signs of climate change.
To get the really big picture about climate change, the class has to get really small – so they can see exactly what is in the air and why it is making the world warmer. What they find gives them a real cause for concern! With climate change being such an important topic, Ms. Frizzle has some hands-on advice for her students and you and your children.
With their knack for making science accessible, Joanna Cole and Bruce Degen give this hot topic a refreshing, kid-friendly spin in a way that makes science accessible and inspires everyone to do their part.

And Magic School Bus fans will want to check out their very cool website that features guided tours with Liz, simple science experiments that change every week, fun online games, printables, and a fabulous section for parents and teachers. My favorite part of the Parent & Teacher section is the ability to browse by science theme! I also like the alphabetical theme index that gives me the ability to see all the materials on the Magic School Bus site that relates to that subject.
