In our home, blocks are always being used in some sort of play from designing make believe worlds to using them for more practical things like weighing down blanket corners for a fort. Blocks are a classic toy because they provide limitless possibilities for a child’s imagination but what if there were magnets inside your blocks?
Tegu makes our new favorite blocks. Here’s why:
- Magnets– Their eco-friendly blocks revolutionize building thanks to their magnetic nature. They stick together and make a satisfying clicking sound when they stick. Tegu can attach to each other in gravity defying ways to form structures that can be created on the floor or any magnetic surface like a metal filing cabinet in our home office or the refrigerator door. They are as much fun for the kids as they are for adults!
- Mission– These magnetic eco-friendly blocks not only revolutionize building but also create positive social impact through the company’s social mission that addresses unemployment and underutilized natural resources and human resources while promoting education and entrepreneurship in Honduras. Tegu also partners with sustainable forestry initiatives to ensure careful selection of their wood and planting trees whenever their blocks are sold.
- Master Builder harnessing social media– Today Tegu launched a brand new site called Tegu Live where an expert builder is taking requests via Twitter. Tegu’s real-time interactive video experience renders traditional instruction manuals obsolete. Tegu Live directly connects its visitors to a Master Tegu Builder capable of making anything imaginable in Tegu blocks. Tegu Live leverages the ubiquity of social media to multiply the distribution possibilities of its unique online creation and instruction.
In anticipation of Tegu Live, Tegu sent our family blocks. They were a huge hit upon opening the box! The kids and I got down on the floor to create all kinds of structures including intricate cantilevered houses a la Frank Lloyd Wright.
When I told them about Tegu Live and the opportunity to submit requests to the Tegu Master Builder before the site launch, they shouted out ideas at a rapid pace! Teddy bear, rabbit, train, telephone the Eiffel Tower were among the items requested and Tegu Live delivered! Click on the links above to watch our requests being created!
Go ahead and challenge the Tegu Master builder!
- Tweet your request to @Tegu
- Follow the hashtag #TeguLive or #BlocksThatClick
@Tegu will tweet you back with a link when your creation has been made or you can watch live at the Tegu website: www.tegu.com
My most recent requests include The Golden Gate Bridge and the 7 Wonders of the World!
How many things can you dream up to be created in Tegu block form?

These blocks are fascinating! I’d never heard of them before today, but you got them all over twitter, and I was entranced by the demos!
Very cool!
I want that guy’s job. I’ll play with toys on camera for them! What cool blocks!
These were a Jasmere feature (hey, you know, I think I learned about Jasmere from you and Jessica!) and we bought them for Lucas for Christmas. I will admit that I broke them out and played with them as soon as they arrived! I am thinking this will be one of the gifts that really has staying power in our house.
