LeapFrog Explorer with Camera & Video Recorder |
This week I reviewed the LeapFrog Leapster Explorer Camera & Video Recorder in my weekly Leapfrog Community Column.
Here’s a teaser of the review and I’m offering a giveaway of one to go with your child’s Explorer!
The new LeapFrog Leapster Explorer Camera & Video Recorder is a wonderful device adding functionality to the device for you budding photojournalist who enjoys capturing still and video images.
The affordably priced Camera & Video Recorder ($24.99) makes me reconsider my belief that that parents who want to give their child a digital camera would be better off buying a used one off of a local CraigsList posting.
I never liked the idea of parents purchasing a brand new digital camera for their kids because of the monetary investment in a device that would be easily lost or broken however, for the price and the quality of the images, the Explorer Camera is a welcome addition for any child who already owns (or is getting!) an Explorer.

I loved the review, and found it helpful as we are actually thinking about one of these for Sam’s new explorer that he got (early) last week!
The feature that I am the most jazzed about is that you can use the pictures you take in the learning! Love the ownership.
I can imagine my 4yo would love the idea of making greeting cards with photos. Sounds like it has many, many more features than I realized. I’m glad to hear getting the camera attachmed is so easy!
I love the affordable price and the fact that you can alter the pictures! so cool!

I almost got my little gal a Leapster Explorer for Xmas, but bought a Playmobil toy instead. It was a tough choice! I bet she’ll get one later in the year for her birthday…

I like the price- and agree completely that kids shouldn’t have pricey cameras- it is just wasteful. (unless their folks are nuts of course)
I liked your review alot- wondering if Toys for Tots kids would use this?

That is very cool that the photos taken can be incorporated into the games. But really my fsvorite thin is that it’s an affordably priced camera for kids. Mine love to take pictures but I’m always hesitant to let them touch my new camera! 🙂

I definitely have 2 little Explorers here, my 4 and 3 year old girls! And probably more soon as my other 2 get older. 🙂 Thanks!

S is going to love the video camera part of it. She loves filming herself performing.

I like that it looks like a real camera, some kids cameras don’t look like “mommy’s camera” and therefore aren’t as “cool”.
