LeapFrog Leapster Camera & Video Recorder Review (w. giveaway)

December 19, 2010 By Leticia

LeapFrog Explorer with Camera & Video Recorder
This week I reviewed the LeapFrog Leapster Explorer Camera & Video Recorder in my weekly Leapfrog Community Column.
Here’s a teaser of the review and I’m offering a giveaway of one to go with your child’s Explorer!
The new LeapFrog Leapster Explorer Camera & Video Recorder is a wonderful device adding functionality to the device for you budding photojournalist who enjoys capturing still and video images.
The affordably priced Camera & Video Recorder ($24.99) makes me reconsider my belief that that parents who want to give their child a digital camera would be better off buying a used one off of a local CraigsList posting.

I never liked the idea of parents purchasing a brand new digital camera for their kids because of the monetary investment in a device that would be easily lost or broken however, for the price and the quality of the images, the Explorer Camera is a welcome addition for any child who already owns (or is getting!) an Explorer.

Use photos to customize learning experiences on the Explorer.
GIVEAWAY: Read my full LeapFrog Leapster Explorer Camera & Video Recorder review on the LeapFrog Community and come back here to leave a comment about your favorite aspect of the device.  All comments must include an email address or Twitter handle to be counted on valid entries.  Comments will close at 5 pm on December 31.

For extra entries, leave a comment as specified above and do any of the following:
  • Leave a comment to let me know if you have an Explorer in your household or if someone will be getting one in a few days!
  • Subscribe to Tech Savvy Mama via email and leave a comment letting me know.
  • Tweet this and leave a link to your comment in your tweet: @TechSavvyMama is giving away a @LeapFrog Explorer Camera & Video Recorder.  Enter 2 win here: http://bit.ly/e52Kdv #giveaway
I am a paid contributor to The LeapFrog Community but all opinions are my own. LeapFrog provided the Camera & Video Recorder for review purposes is providing the giveaway.  Winner must provide their email address or Twitter handle in the comment to be eligible to win and live within the U.S. for shipping purposes.  No P.O. boxes accepted. Camera & Video Recorder will not arrive in time for Christmas delivery.  Images courtesy of LeapFrog.

I loved the review, and found it helpful as we are actually thinking about one of these for Sam’s new explorer that he got (early) last week!

The feature that I am the most jazzed about is that you can use the pictures you take in the learning! Love the ownership.

Today we’re celebrating National Rescue Dog Day Today we’re celebrating National Rescue Dog Day because we’re so glad Goldie and Murphy are part of our family! 🐶 We gave Goldie her forever home when she was 6 months old. She had been given up by her original family because she was just too much for them. She was an enthusiastic pup who loved to jump straight up in the air when she got excited and she used to hop the fence in the mornings to go visit her best dog friend, Katy, over our back fence. She still jumps from standing when she sees a deer, meets a favorite dog friend, or gets a visit from @lisatasch but now at age 5, she’s more calm and forever faithful. 🦮We met Murphy and his 9 brothers and sisters just days after he was born although we didn’t know he would be the puppy we’d claim as ours. Murphy has that puppy energy but in his quiet moments is a total love bug. He hogs the free space in our king bed (he even has his own pillow!) and loves nothing more than to press his body into me or lie directly on me. 🐾 Goldie and Murphy came to us through @labrescuelrcp and we couldn’t be happier that they’re part of our family! ❤️ #rescuedogday #labrescue #labrador #adoptdontshop
After 3 days at St. Jude Children’s Research Hos After 3 days at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, I’m leaving Memphis so very grateful to be able to support St. Jude’s mission of working to end childhood cancer. ❤️ Spending time connecting, brainstorming, and absorbing the wisdom of fellow Hero Ambassadors from around the country was inspiring because the work we do fundraising through our endurance events helps St. Jude do the incredible work they do to ensure families never receive a bill for their child’s treatment, housing, travel, or food and continue important research that will continue to reduce rates of pediatric cancer and other childhood diseases. I am so looking forward to running in Memphis again this December! 🎉 If you’ve ever thought of running a race that does so much good in the world, join me! I’d love to have you come to Memphis and run with me! Or you can always donate through the fundraising link in my bio. ❤️ #stjude #stjudeheroes #memphis #stjudedmv
