‘Wait Until Your Father Gets Home’ No Longer Applies: Dads Dish on How Fatherhood Has Changed
Fathers today have taken on a much larger role than they had in the 1950s, when most dads handed out cigars in the hospital waiting room and doled out discipline after a day at the office. Fathers today have much more responsibility, including sharing in the household chores, being doting Soccer Dads and keeping the family organized.
In honor of Father’s Day, we wanted to take the pulse of our Cozi dads to explore what life is like for them and their role in managing their family’s schedule. We polled more than 300 Cozi dads and asked about the changing roles of fathers, the struggles they face and the tools that help them overcome those challenges. When asked about their biggest struggles, seven out of 10 dads cited keeping the family organized as the biggest pain point.Dads are a critical part of the solution: one in four are the main organizers in their families and nearly all—85 percent—said they are somewhat or very involved in managing the family’s schedule. When it comes to keeping the family on track, dads are digital all the way—their favorite organization tools are cell phones, electronic calendars like Cozi and computers.
