AT&T Samsung Rugby Smart Review (w. giveaway)

May 1, 2012 By Leticia

With summer vacations on the horizon, does the thought of giving your phone to your child to use or having it near water frighten you?  If you fear what will happen to your phone in the hands of your child or worse yet, you accidentally dropping it in the water during a beach Vacation or time by the pool, the Samsung Rugby Smart is the phone for you.

The Samsung Rugby Smart features a built in waterproof case that not only seals the headphone jack and charging port but also locks the battery in place, and tough Gorilla Glass resists damage due to scratches, drops, and bumps.  But are these features adequate to endure even the most active family vacation?
The rugged Samsung Rugby Smart was recently put through the ringer during my trip to Disney Social Media Moms where my family put it to the test.  How did it do?  Take a look.
The Samsung Rugby Smart performed like a champ!

Our worst phone story is when my husband jumped into the pool with his phone still in his swimsuit pocket. He didn’t realize it right away. He ended up needing a new phone. Fortunately, it was a company phone and they just replaced it.

Last fall, my phone fell out of my purse and landed face-down on the concrete below the stands at a baseball game. Of course, the screen shattered! I learned my lesson and got a hard case for my replacement phone!

I had the same phone for about 3 years. It was old, outdated, and I was due for an upgrade. I went in and decided to go big or go home, and I got myself an iPhone. I had this iPhone for about 3 weeks before I left it on the bumper of my car and took it for a ride! Yikes! Once I realized what happened, I searched that stretch of road, up and down, for about 3 hours before finally giving up. I had to head in and buy a new one. Not only did it suck to spend another $400 (I learned my lesson and bought the insurance this time!), but I had to explain to the people at ATT what I had done. It was so embarrassing!

My horror story started when I picked my daughter up from afterschool one day and decided to stop by grocery store. I only wanted to run in for a minutes and didn’t want her to come into the store with me asking for this and asking for that. So I left her in the truck with tv, radio, air, and engine running with doors lock. I thought I had left the truck running but apparently I just had to truck running the devices plus my phone was charging on the charger. So with all that running and no engine fulling running. I came back out 5-10 minutes later, had her unlock the door and tried to start vehicle and it would not start and to top it off, I guess I blew a fuse of some kind charging my phone because it cut off and would not cut back on ever again. @vivaciousgold

OMG! Watching that video nearly gave me a panic attack! I can not believe the phone stood up to all those tests! My husband NEEDS this phone. I can not tell you how many screens he has shattered (okay, I can, 3!). He currently has a Sprint phone with a completely cracked screen but his contract is almost up and I would love for him to switch to AT&T to get this phone!

I was speaking on the phone when my 8 year old decided it would be funny to put a salamander he had caught down the back of my shirt…needless to say I screamed bloody murder and dropped my phone off the bridge and into the little river we were fishing in!

I went out with a bunch of friends for my birthday, had a little too much to drink, ended up puking all over myself and when we got to my girlfriends she got me all tucked in to a fresh nightie and put me to bed. Trying to be nice she threw my clothes in the washer, my brand new android smartphone and all! The worst part was i just received it that day as a birthday gift

Today we’re celebrating National Rescue Dog Day Today we’re celebrating National Rescue Dog Day because we’re so glad Goldie and Murphy are part of our family! 🐶 We gave Goldie her forever home when she was 6 months old. She had been given up by her original family because she was just too much for them. She was an enthusiastic pup who loved to jump straight up in the air when she got excited and she used to hop the fence in the mornings to go visit her best dog friend, Katy, over our back fence. She still jumps from standing when she sees a deer, meets a favorite dog friend, or gets a visit from @lisatasch but now at age 5, she’s more calm and forever faithful. 🦮We met Murphy and his 9 brothers and sisters just days after he was born although we didn’t know he would be the puppy we’d claim as ours. Murphy has that puppy energy but in his quiet moments is a total love bug. He hogs the free space in our king bed (he even has his own pillow!) and loves nothing more than to press his body into me or lie directly on me. 🐾 Goldie and Murphy came to us through @labrescuelrcp and we couldn’t be happier that they’re part of our family! ❤️ #rescuedogday #labrescue #labrador #adoptdontshop

I am so looking forward to running in Memphis again this December! 🎉 If you’ve ever thought of running a race that does so much good in the world, join me!
