I’ve always had a love affair with See’s Candies so when I received an email asking me if I’d select some of my favorites in order to share See’s Candies with my readers, I declared to Facebook friends that it was the best pitch ever. While it may seem that I’ve sold out for chocolate, let me clarify by saying that See’s isn’t just any old candy. It’s the chocolate of my childhood and a fine holiday tradition that we carry on in our home.
In our house, we have certain traditions associated with the holidays, one of which is getting See’s holiday boxes for the kids. See’s Candies’ Santa boxes, filled with Sugar Sticks, lollypops, milk chocolate foil balls, and a solid chocolate Santa, always found a way into my stocking and I could always count on a bag of shiny red chocolate hearts at my place at the table on Valentine’s Day. Even when left for college, Mom and Dad kept me well stocked with my favorites by sending a Custom Mix with assorted truffles, raspberry crèmes, Butterchews, Butterscotch Squares, Scotchmallows, and more. Carefully extracted from its crimped paper wrappers and pristine white box, each piece was savored.
These days loving grandparents in California carry on the See’s Candies holiday traditions by sending holiday chocolates from coast to coast. My mom always checks the supply of my See’s Candies before making a pilgrimage to her local store and selecting items for her beloved grandkids. With so much to choose from, it’s sometimes hard to decide but we have our favorites!
For Halloween, our pick is the Trick-or-Treat Box. Nicely priced at $6.65, it won’t break the bank and features lots of premium chocolate that puts that other stuff you get on Halloween night to shame. Assorted milk and dark chocolates are nestled with milk chocolate foil balls and crispy molasses chips in a darling box. If you’re more of a chocolate purist, I highly recommend the Halloween Milk Chocolate Foil Balls at the same price point ($6.65).
A new favorite are the Pumpkin Pie Truffles ($10.20). I love all things pumpkin when the weather cools and these didn’t disappoint! The smooth filling is the perfect blend of pumpkin, cinnamon, and other spices encapsulated by smooth milk chocolate.
If you’re looking for seasonal boxes, See’s Candies also has a great assortment of fall gifts. Think ahead to Thanksgiving and make sure to order some as a hostess gift or just to have on hand in case you get some unexpected guests during the holidays.
