When I first visited Toyota Headquarters in Torrance, California earlier this year I heard how the company was devoted to supporting charitable efforts in local communities and recently had the pleasure of shopping and delivering much needed items to a food bank in Santa Barbara during a recent trip with fellow Toyota Women’s Influencer Network members.
Armed with directions, we drove from Santa Monica to Oxnard in a gorgeous Toyota Sequoia. While the Sequoia was a little large for me to navigate on the PCH, it was the perfect vehicle for our task: purchase items on our list for the Santa Barbara Food Bank.
As 24 of us descended on Target in our Toyotas, we were given a wish list of items for the Santa Barbara Food Bank and $25 gift cards by Toyota. Upon hearing of our missing, the kind team members of the Oxnard Target gave us an additional $10 to spend on our purchases! Thank you Target!
We raced around the store, filling carts with items from our lists, and exited the store in record time.
With 24 women spending $35 each from Toyota and Target plus countless personal funds, we filled our cars with much needed items for the Santa Barbara Food Bank! Take a look at what our Sequoia looked like after our shopping trip! The other Toyotas were filled too!
In all, our donations weighed 634 pounds and it was great to be able to give a little back to the community during our time together as TWIN members.
As a member of the Toyota Women’s Influencer Network (TWIN) program, Toyota provided my travel, accommodations, expenses, and access to vehicles during my trip. I was selected for participation in the TWIN community through a program with Clever Girls Collective. All opinions are my own and based on personal experience and do not reflect the views of Toyota.
I like hearing about companies giving back ! With1 in 6 (or as high as 1/5) folks hungry it is an important cause!
