Every working parent knows what it’s like to wake up in the morning and find that their child is too sick to go to school. But what do you do? The latest episode from Circle of Moms by POPSUGAR explores this very topic with hosts and fellow moms Tia Mowry, Diana Mizota, Stacy Kaiser, and Lizzie Bermudez.

Sure, it’s a huge pain when a work day is disrupted due to illness but as a former classroom teacher, I always err on the side of caution when my kids aren’t feeling well. At age 6 and 9, they’re not hypochondriacs. They love school and so when they say they aren’t feeling well, I know they’re coming down with something. I feel that it’s important to give my kids the rest they need and avoid spreading of germs to others. Many times kids are contagious well before they present physical symptoms. I also make sure that my children are fever free for 24 hours before going back to school to prevent a relapse.
What do you do when your kids are sick? Who stays home with them? If you’re a freelancer and consultant like me who works from home, what are your tips for completing work while taking care of a sick child?
I agree my kids love school, so when they wake up and say they are sick I know they are feeling horrible. When they were toddlers and they had a fever I would keep them home. However if they just had a running nose I would send them.
