When I started blogging almost seven years ago, my first business cards were from VistaPrint. Not sure whether my blogging hobby would ever become anything more, I chose VistaPrint’s free business cards. I was pretty proud of my little cards proclaiming my new site and was thrilled to just pay for shipping plus a bit more to get their logo removed from the back!
Look how fancy I thought I was with my first ever business cards from VistaPrint!
Fast forward to the present….When the VistaPrint team reached out to me a couple months ago, asking if I’d look at their holiday line, I was curious. It had been years since I’d visited VistaPrint for my printing needs and I hadn’t thought of them for my annual holiday cards. The team sent me a package containing the card samples above and I was honestly impressed so I thought I’d give them a try. What I found was a site that was not at all reminiscent of the one I used years ago.
Getting Started with VistaPrint
Some years I use just one photo for our holiday cards but this year I wanted ours to be more like a year in review, featuring photos of the kids throughout the year and showcasing some of their favorite things and moments from the year. I quickly found that the cards on the site were categorized according to the number of photos I wanted to use. I could also whittle down the many options according to styles, themes, and size. You can also filter the many photo card options according to the number of images, card size, and layout.
Customizing VistaPrint Cards
There were lots of ways for me to quickly personalize my cards thanks to the many tools that allowed me to make a unique holiday card that reflects our family
For those who love photo cards as much as I do, I appreciate that VistaPrint allows users to upload images from my computer, Facebook, Picasa, or Flickr during the design process. Tools are available to adjust the image size, angle, and add different colors.
Some years I’ve felt that I’ve had to settle on a card template that I wish I could just tweak a little bit to change the greeting, font type, or font size. VistaPrint provides over 100 fonts and a wide variety of colors to chose from!
Other personalization options include selecting different paper stocks (glossy, matter, and more!) and customized envelopes to match the look and feel of our cards for the complete package.
I loved being able to customize the greeting underneath Year in Review by selecting the font and playing with the font size to get our words to fit. The back font color was chosen by the kids to match what they were wearing in the photo but still go with our blue theme! Our envelopes with our return address are the same color blue as the front of the card with our address printed in the same font for consistency. In short- we love this year’s holiday cards!
Why Choose VistaPrint?
With so many card companies sending offers to my inbox daily, it’s often hard to know who offers the best deal. Since I’m always a fan of shopping around to find the right card design to fit our family’s needs as I consider price, I’m never loyal to just one online card company. Over the years I’ve tried many and certainly have my favorites but those that I return have sites that are easy to use, feature high quality affordable cards, and can resolve problems quickly so I can get my cards sent out on time.
VistaPrint features low prices and a wide selection of beautiful designs on thick cardstock that is a paper lover’s dream. Their 2014 Holiday Card and Designer Collection features hand lettering, fun holiday shimmers, and geometric shapes and styles on VistaPrint mirrored what I had seen on other card sites I’ve used in the past but for a lot less money. VistaPrint has offered their cards for 50-60% off, making premium personalized cards highly affordable.
I also got to try out VistaPrint’s customer service when my cards arrived without envelopes. I had created custom envelopes to go with our holiday cards but hadn’t added them to our cart. The VistaPrint system didn’t default to send plain envelopes with my order so imagine my surprise when I opened my box of cards! The cards were beautiful but without envelopes, I couldn’t send them!
I made a call to VistaPrint’s customer service and the lovely person on the other end of the line looked at my account, saw that I had created custom printed envelopes, and had them to me within two days. In the meantime, I’m still waiting to hear from another holiday card company about an issue from weeks ago. And my mom emailed a company about her Christmas card order and has also yet to hear back after two weeks!
