There are many ways to show your kids that you love them. My very short list of kid-friendly gifts are ones that they can enjoy throughout the year and might just be welcome to add some novelty into our home to get you through the rest of winter.

Naptime with Theo and Beau ($11.14 from Amazon)— Chances are you’ve seen Jessica Shyba’s (aka @MommasGoneCity) adorable naptime photos of her son, Beau, and adopted puppy, Theo, on Instagram, floating by in your Facebook feed, or on the news. The just-released Naptime with Theo and Beau is full of of sweet nap photos and easy to read text for your youngest readers but still such a delight for older readers too! Cooper and Kid quarterly subscription ($65/quarter)— With so many subscription box companies out there, the choices are a bit overwhelming especially when you’re looking for something that will truly enhance your quality time with your kids but Cooper and Kid elevates the idea of the subscription box to a whole different level. This quarterly box is filled with themed projects designed for dads and kids to do together. There’s a huge cool factor but also an incredible learning factor through activities that promote the power of play. We recently received the music box that came packaged in a cardboard box printed like an amplifier that immediately grabbed my 8 year old guitar playing kid’s attention. He couldn’t wait to dig into the box and when we did, we found a spiral bound activity book chock full of musical concepts that can be learned while doing the activities together.

We’ve tackled projects involving measuring and cutting large straws to make a pitch flute (loved the integration of measuring with this activity), assembling a drum set to teach percussion, and next up on our list is that cardboard amplifier! Cooper and Kid projects are perhaps more lengthy than other ones that come in competing subscription boxes and they’re not designed to be ones that kids do on their own. This kit isn’t designed to be a set of stuff that you throw at your kids to occupy them while you do something else. And honestly, that’s quite refreshing. While this makes a great gift for dads, grandparents, and uncles, there’s no bias against moms doing these activities with their kids either.
