Every parent works hard to balance the demands of parenting while keeping up with professional obligations and multitasking moms and dads everywhere need devices that can meet the daily challenges that life throws at us. As a full time working mom, my days are always divided. I enjoy the flexibility that comes with working from my home office where I squeeze in work between the daily routines of my two children, 11 ½ year old middle schooler, Emily, and her younger brother, Thomas, but when I’m on the road, I rely on my mobile phone to stay in touch with my family and help me keep up with work obligations.
My mobile phone is my lifeline. It allows me to communicate with clients, monitor social media channels in my role as a social media strategist for large brands, and maintain a connection to the online community I’ve built over the past eight years as a blogger while also serving as an essential tool for parenting. My phone helps me keep an eye on my kids through apps that let me know that they’re safe even when I’m not there, share my travel experiences with my daughter who loves to monitor my Instagram account to see what I’m up to when we’re not together, and it lets me see hear their voices and see their faces when I miss them the most. While nothing can replace me being physically present, I rely on my Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ with Corning® Gorilla® Glass 4 to work as hard as I do to be virtually present.
Next week I’ll leave the family routines in the hands of my capable husband as I embark on an incredible week of travel as part of The Gorilla Glass 4 in the Desert trip where I’ll be subjecting my beloved smartphone to new challenges in rough terrain as it helps me balance work and parenting.
My trip will begin in Austin at Engadget Live to serve as a live witness for a pressure test that represents hours of tests by Corning’s top scientists who better understand how and why glass breaks when dropped. This research has contributed to a tougher product with scratch resistance and advanced touch capability that is designed to better withstand the rigors of being dropped on jagged streets, sidewalks, and parking lots.
I’ll also be taking my Galaxy S6 edge+ to the streets of Austin
Following Austin, I’ll be heading straight to Northern Arizona to join bloggers from the U.S. and China on a trip through rough terrain to capture tough experiences with my Gorilla Glass 4 device for my Virtual Field Trip series. This excursion involves a 3-5 mile hike to the Betatakin Ruins with a 700 foot drop, a 2-3 hour trip to Alstrom’s Point, and a hike through the picturesque and narrow Slot Canyons.
For my week away from home, I need a device that will work as hard as I do and can stand up to the hard journey to these picturesque areas that are part of our trip. I’ll be relying on my Galaxy S6 edge+ with Gorilla Glass 4 to capture incredible images and content for my Virtual Field Trip series and maintain communication with clients and my family while away. It’s going to be tough but I know my Gorilla Glass 4 device can handle it!
