What’s the secret to great pizza? Intense heat. High heat that cooks the pizza from top to bottom in a restaurant’s brick oven can be hard to replicate at home in a regular oven that sometimes leads to soggy middles or singed toppings. Thankfully Black+Decker’s 5-Minute Pizza Oven & Snack Maker makes the pizza making process more foolproof whether you’re making home made or frozen pizzas.
When we unboxed our 5-Minute Pizza Oven & Snack Maker, the kids were excited about making their own personal pizzas. Creating English muffin pizzas and assembling them with the toppings of their choice is a treat but baking them takes far more time than it should in our regular oven. Usually the process involves turning the oven on, leaving the pizza stone in the oven to heat up as it reaches temperatures of 450 degrees, and then carefully putting the little pizzas on the stone while running the risk of burned fingers.
The Black+Decker’s 5-Minute Pizza Oven & Snack Maker is easy to operate because it has just two dials— one that features five different settings to cook various kinds of pizzas like regular and thin crust or deep dish (along with settings for other baked goods) and the dial underneath is a timer that can be set for up to 30 minutes and features auto shut off.
I can select the type of pizza we’re baking, set the timer, and the Pizza Oven & Snack Maker heats up instantly thanks to dual heating elements that can reach temperatures up to 625 degrees. The oven is engineered to provide even heat that surrounds your pizza to create a crisp crust, perfectly browned toppings, and bubbling cheese. The black ceramic tray fits at 12” family size pizza or multiple mini pizzas!
Mini pizzas are a fun snack or meal for kids to make because they can customize their pizzas according to the toppings they like. Thomas and I went grocery shopping for pepperoni pizza ingredients. We selected pre-sliced pepperoni and pre-shredded cheese (he selected a cheddar Monterey jack blend) for ease and also raided the fridge for leftovers that made barbecue chicken pizzas.
To show off how easy it is to use the Black+Decker’s 5-Minute Pizza Oven & Snack Maker, Thomas helped me create a short video and wanted me to share his recipes below.
Thomas’ Barbecue Chicken Mini Pizza Recipe
Ingredients:
- Shredded cheese
- Barbecue sauce
- Cooked chicken cut in small pieces
- Green Onions- sliced
- Cilantro- minced
- Orowheat Sandwich Thins
Directions:
- Toast the Orowheat Sandwich Thins. We like these because they’re thin like a thin crust pizza and when slightly toasted, the top isn’t made soggy by the barbecue sauce.
- Spread on some barbecue sauce
- Sprinkle on the shredded cheese and chicken
- Set the Black+Decker 5-Minute Pizza Oven & Snack Maker to Thin Crust
- Bake for 2-3 minutes
- Open the pizza oven, slide out the tray with the removable handle, and put the mini pizzas on plates to cool for a minute before serving
Kids will have fun watching their pizzas cook through the window of the Black+Decker 5-Minute Pizza Oven & Snack Maker and while the insulated interior ensures that the oven gets no hotter than an average toaster oven on the outside, children who want to try their hand at cooking should do so under adult supervision.
The Black+Decker’s 5-Minute Pizza Oven & Snack Maker retails for $149.99. For more information, visit the Black + Decker Facebook page.
