It is easy to remove the base of the unit and use it purely as a tablet when you don’t need the bulk of the keyboard. The Switch 10 E can be used as a laptop while at a desk or on the go. By detaching the keyboard, kids can watch a movie while lying comfortably on the couch or in bed. The tablet can be attached to the base facing forward or backwards, allowing the base to act as a stand both in “display” and “tent” modes.
When disconnecting the tablet from the keyboard base, it automatically offers to switch to tablet mode.

The Acer Aspire Switch 10 E features a 10.1” screen. The overall size and shape of the unit is similar to that of a netbook except that the base detaches and becomes a tablet, giving you versatility for both work and entertainment. The review unit I received had an Intel Atom X5 processor, 2GB of RAM, 64GB flash drive, and a 500GB hard drive inside the keyboard-base, allowing you to store your life’s collection of movies, photos, and Hollywood movies. Not bad for models that are all priced under $400!
The Switch 10 E also runs Windows 10 home, a full-featured version of Windows with compatibility for all of your desktop applications. The unit has 2 cameras, one inward facing, good for selfies and video conferencing; and another one on the back of the tablet, good for taking photos and videos of the kids.

The Acer Aspire Switch 10 E feels sturdy and solid as a tablet should. The rear case has decorative, textured plastic to make it easier to hold. I also appreciate that it has a screen that’s made of Corning® Gorilla® Glass. Gorilla Glass, Corning’s toughest cover glass on the market, is featured on 13 Acer products including smartphones, tablets, and notebook computers like the Switch 10E.
It allows the Switch 10E to be sleek while providing exceptional damage resistance to the scratches and bumps of everyday use. The Acer Aspire Switch 10 E looks like a fun 2-in-1 convertible that’s lightweight for the kids, but powerful enough to actually do some work on. With the Atom processor, the device runs cool and battery lasts long, as I’ve seen on other devices but you can run any Windows program out there or apps from the Windows Store. Probably the best class of devices available now with good balance of fun, work, capabilities, and price.
Looking at the Acer site, I learned that this device has dual-band WiFi (a/b/g/n). That’s great since I prefer to be on the faster, less congested 5Ghz band.
I would be great for us so we can watch movies and play games on it.
