This year show mom you truly love her by surprising with something she wouldn’t think to get herself. Here are 16 great Mother’s Day gift ideas in all price ranges that will make her swoon, regardless of your budget.
Handmade Mother’s Day Gifts & Gifts that Give Back
Earrings from Loopholes Boutique on Etsy (starting at $9/pair)
Started by tween and teen sisters at a yard sale in their Philadelphia suburbs last spring, now just a year later Loopholes Boutique’s darling and affordable line of earrings are available through their Etsy store and locally at Monkeyfish Toys. Handmade clip and pierced styles feature beads procured during the family’s global travels.
Delicate pierced silver wire ball earrings (pictured above) are a perfect accessory for a LBD. Styles like the tiny teacup and saucer earrings ($10.73), Black Mayan inspired earrings ($11.73) or green floral bead earrings ($10.13) would be perfect gifts as a reminder of a past family vacation to England, Mexico, or Venice. If mom is an Instagram aficionado, get her a pair of the camera earrings for $8.73 .
I absolutely love that Loopholes Boutique is led by an entrepreneurial tween and teen and has become a family venture. The story of Loopholes Boutique is worth sharing and next week I’ll be featuring a guest post by dad, Jeff Bogle, who is in charge of product photography and teaching economics lessons related to the business when he’s not writing over on Out with the Kids and elsewhere.
Embroidered Nightgowns & Linens from Haiti Projects (starting at $12)
Earlier this year I had the opportunity to visit the women artisan of Haiti Projects. Watching them embroider delicate flowers on crisp white nightgowns, sprigs of lavender on pillow cases ($25), and traditional Haitian veves on zippered pouches ($18), makes you realize exactly how much your purchase means to the women who is in front of you. Haiti Projects provides women in rural Haiti with employment where they earn fair wages for their work that helps improve the quality of life for those in need.

I think one of my favorite memories with my Mother was when she was ‘teaching’me to bake a cake and totally messed it up! Honestly, my Mother worked two jobs to support us, but was determined t teach me to bake. She and I made a cake, and it was winter. This cake was so bad the birds wouldnt even touch it . She threw the thing out, and really, it was there after the snow melted. She neve could figure out what wnt wrong and we laughed and laughed. Oddly, I sill dont bake cakes well.
