How MobileHelp Smart Wearable Medical Alert System Provides Peace of Mind to Those with Senior Parents

November 5, 2018 By Leticia

This post is sponsored by MobileHelp Smart

My parents are active and healthy but as they get older, I find myself worrying about them a bit more. We are a generation who grew up seeing “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up” played on our less than flat screen TVs. While the acting was horrible and it was hard to envision our parents aging into seniors at the time, I’m coming to realize that something similar could happen and leaves me wondering what if.

What IF that happened to my parents? Would they have their phone nearby to call for help? What if they were badly hurt and in pain and couldn’t operate their phone?

Peace of mind can be difficult to come by but MobileHelp is aiming to change that through , a discreet wearable medical alert built into a Samsung Gear S3 Frontier smartwatch.

About MobileHelp Smart

As a longtime leader in mobile Personal Emergency Systems (mPERS) and healthcare technology, MobileHelp collaborated with Samsung to integrate their emergency response system on customized Samsung Gear S3 Frontier smartwatches to create . The Gear 3 looks exactly the same one I purchased for my husband as a Christmas gift from a major retailer. The only difference is that there’s a stand-alone medical alert system built in to the feature rich watch, making more discreet than other medical alert systems and far more functional than a medical bracelet.

provides low profile way for anyone wearing the device to get help in an emergency. The home screen looks like a smartwatch but by pressing the buttons on the side, the wearer can access a Help button allows them to summon help. When the Help button is tapped, the call for assistance goes to trained operators who know who the user is, where they’re located, and can contact them directly through the watch to determine the scope of emergency and proper level of response.

The technology built into MobileHelp Smart connects the wearer to the 4G cellular network 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Internal GPS provides location tracking while the microphone and speaker keep the wearer connected to emergency operators who will know where they are and can send help quickly, providing peace of mind for the wearer and loved ones.

Additional features make MobileHelp Smart an appealing choice as a medical alert solution including:

  • Built-in Samsung Health app to monitor activity while measuring heart rate to minimize risk
  • Ability to set target fitness and diet goals
  • Easy to read summaries of activity history makes fitness progress worth celebrating
  • Built-in weather app provides local forecast at your fingertips

Getting Started with MobileHelp Smart

With an abundance of features that provides peace of mind,  appeals to a generation with aging parents but if you’ve ever helped your parents with their tech issues and gotten frustrated, you’re wondering what the set-up process is like. Nothing is worse than buying your parents a product you think will truly help them only to find it in the box months later.

MobileHelp Smart comes in a Samsung Gear S3 Frontier box that contains:

  • Mobile Help Smart wearable
  • Charger dock
  • USB charging cable
  • Wall adapter

MobileHelp also provides a MobileHelp Smart User Guide with easy to follow directions and diagrams to get acquainted with the new wearable medical alert device.

Right out of the box, your might have a bit of a charge but to make it’s fully charged before use, plug the USB charging cable into the wall adapter. Then plug the other end into the charging dock and set the back of the MobileHelp Smart against the charging surface to fully charge it. The LED indicator on the front of the dock will turn red when MobileHelp Smart is charging and turns green when fully charged. The LED indicator lights blink from red to green to orange to indicate the charger dock is functioning properly.

The battery in MobileHelp Smart can last up to 2 days on a single charge. When the watch battery is drained to 15%, it asks if you want to enter into power saving mode. It’s recommended that you select the X to NOT enter into power saving mode because this will disable the MobileHelp Personal Emergency Response functionality.

When looking at the face of MobileHealth Smart, you’ll see two buttons on the right side of the watch face. The bottom button serves as the Home Button that are used to turn MobileHelp Smart on or off and turn on the screen. Holding down the Home Button for more than seven seconds will also reboot your MobileHealth Smart.

The top button is the Help Button/Back Button. When pressed for 3 seconds, the Help Button sends a help alert that provides 24/7 access to emergency help 365 days a year. MobileHelp Smart sounds an audible alert and Sending Alert with an “X” and two arrows underneath will
appear on the watch face.

Processing Alert will be displayed on the watch face, followed by Alert Sent Successfully! As MobileHelp Smart connects you with our Emergency Response Center, you’ll see Call in Progress on the watch face. The Emergency Operator will communicate with you directly through the watch’s microphone (located right below the Help Button) to assess the situation and notify Emergency Response.

also provides access to help through the watch face by doing these steps:

  1. Press the Home button to access the Home Screen
  2. Press and hold the HELP button in the center of the watch face
  3. MobileHelp Smart will sound an audible alert
  4. You will see Sending Alert appear on the watch face with an “X” and two arrows underneath
  5. Processing alert will then display on the watch face, followed by Alert Sent Successfully!
  6. Call in Progress will then display on the watch face as MobileHelp Smart connects you with the Emergency Response Center

If you happen to send an alert by accident, it can be cancelled by swiping the X that is displayed on the bottom of the watch face from left to right or with these 3 steps:

  1. If the HELP button was pressed accidentally, or if you are just testing and unable to cancel the call, you will be connected with the Emergency Response Center
  2. Please tell the Emergency Operator that you are okay and that it was just a test. If you do not explain to the operator that you are okay, EMS will be contacted
  3. The watch will automatically answer the call from the Emergency Response Center in handsfree mode after sending the alert

MobileHelp Smart is a stand-alone medical alert system that is discreetly encased in an exclusive model of the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier that helps take away the embarrassing stigma that come with other wearable systems. Because MobileHelp Smart is built into the Samsung Gear S3 Frontier, it has military-grade durability and the ability to resists water, dust and extreme temperatures, and features Corning® Gorilla® Glass SR+ watch face to help protect against scratches. It also comes with Samsung’s S Health app integration to help the wearer meet fitness and diet goals while also monitor activity, heart rate, water, food and caffeine intake with the S Health app. Activity and diagnostic history within the S Health app by simply rotating the steel bezel around the watch face.

MobileHelp Smart Summary

is an easy to use medical alert device packed in a stylish and discreet wearable that provides peace of mind thanks to the constant ability to summon help from trained operators with the touch of a button.

MobileHelp Smart is currently available for purchase for $349.95 plus a monthly monitoring fee of $24.95/month. For more information, visit MobileHelp.

I received a loan of a MobileHelp Smart for testing purposes and was compensated for this post but all opinions are my own.

Today we’re celebrating National Rescue Dog Day Today we’re celebrating National Rescue Dog Day because we’re so glad Goldie and Murphy are part of our family! 🐶 We gave Goldie her forever home when she was 6 months old. She had been given up by her original family because she was just too much for them. She was an enthusiastic pup who loved to jump straight up in the air when she got excited and she used to hop the fence in the mornings to go visit her best dog friend, Katy, over our back fence. She still jumps from standing when she sees a deer, meets a favorite dog friend, or gets a visit from @lisatasch but now at age 5, she’s more calm and forever faithful. 🦮We met Murphy and his 9 brothers and sisters just days after he was born although we didn’t know he would be the puppy we’d claim as ours. Murphy has that puppy energy but in his quiet moments is a total love bug. He hogs the free space in our king bed (he even has his own pillow!) and loves nothing more than to press his body into me or lie directly on me. 🐾 Goldie and Murphy came to us through @labrescuelrcp and we couldn’t be happier that they’re part of our family! ❤️ #rescuedogday #labrescue #labrador #adoptdontshop
After 3 days at St. Jude Children’s Research Hos After 3 days at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, I’m leaving Memphis so very grateful to be able to support St. Jude’s mission of working to end childhood cancer. ❤️ Spending time connecting, brainstorming, and absorbing the wisdom of fellow Hero Ambassadors from around the country was inspiring because the work we do fundraising through our endurance events helps St. Jude do the incredible work they do to ensure families never receive a bill for their child’s treatment, housing, travel, or food and continue important research that will continue to reduce rates of pediatric cancer and other childhood diseases. I am so looking forward to running in Memphis again this December! 🎉 If you’ve ever thought of running a race that does so much good in the world, join me! I’d love to have you come to Memphis and run with me! Or you can always donate through the fundraising link in my bio. ❤️ #stjude #stjudeheroes #memphis #stjudedmv

As a teacher and parent, I am well aware of the me As a teacher and parent, I am well aware of the mental health challenges our youth face and am really pleased to share that over the weekend I became certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid through the National Council for Mental Wellbeing! 🎉 I’ve always worked to build relationships with the young people in my life- whether my kids’ friends or students- and this certification has made me more mindful of the signs and symptoms of mental health challenges so I can have important and supportive conversations when symptoms first start to appear. 🗣️A big component of the training also included developing a self-care plan which is critical when supporting others. 💕 I’m so grateful to have taken this certification for free through the University of Maryland whose blended learning format (2 hours of self paced online work + 5 hour instructor led class over Zoom) was fantastic! 💻 The teacher in me really applauds the course design and I’m glad to join the 3 million+ in the U.S. certified in Youth Mental Health First Aid. 🏥 If this is something you’re interested in doing, University of Maryland has free courses on Saturdays or Sundays from 10-4pm between June-October. Swipe ⬅️ for more information, including a QR code with more information and a survey to take as part of the sign up process. And if you have any questions- leave a comment or DM me. I’m happy to help you get certified too! ❤️ #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthfirstaid #youthmentalhealth #mentalhealthawarenessmonth
