Since Techno Source’s 20Q arrived at my door, we’ve been trying to figure out how exactly it’s magical mystical powers work to read our minds! Being used to the regular game of 20 Questions played during family road trips, the updated version of 20Q is fun, interactive, highly portable, and spookily accurate.
Questions asked by 20Q help it figure out what you’re thinking |
Unlike the verbal version of 20 Questions which requires at least 2 people to play, the 20Q handheld can be played individually. The player thinks of animal, vegetable, mineral or other object, and it is 20Q’s job to magically reads their minds by guessing the answer in twenty questions or less. The player answers yes, no, rarely, and sometimes to each question. Their responses help 20Q figure out additional questions ask in order to narrow down the answer.
Captain Computer and Little Miss Techie are huge fans of 20Q, trying to play it whenever possible. They sit with their heads together, thinking of something that 20Q may not be able to guess. So far they aren’t having much luck! 20Q is eerily accurate! Take a look!
The kids find the game fun and engaging while I find it downright addictive! They love the flashing face of the game and noises which give 20Q a personality of its own. Little Miss Techie is glued to the screen, awaiting the next question to scroll across, while her little brother has his fingers ready to push the correct button after they agree on a response.
The illuminated screen and noises give 20Q a personality |
I love that the game fits in the palm of my hand, making it easy for the kids to hold and operate, but also highly portable. The hard plastic shell has withstood a trip to Type A Parent Conference, a trip to the grandparents’ house, being thrown in my backpack to pass the time before fireworks on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. on the Fourth of July, numerous trips to the pool, and daily outings in my purse where it rolls around at the bottom with whatever else may be packed in there!
It’s also great to play with friends! |
The more we play 20Q, the more we wonder about the kind of technology that serves as its brain to make it so accurate! Our curiousity is starting to get the best of us even as we try to throw 20Q off by responding in ways that could make it think differently. So far it’s pretty foolproof so I look forward to interviewing Robin Burgener, inventor of 20Q’s internal artificial intelligence to learn more about how it thinks!
If you’re heading to BlogHer, I’ll have a select number of samples of 20Q available!
Where would you play 20Q and what item would you think of to see if it could really read your mind with its magical powers? I’d love for you to share in the comments!
As the official 20Q brand ambassador for BlogHer 2011, Techno Source is covering my conference expenses. A pre-release product sample was provided for review purposes.

Thats a pretty neat game! I like how its portable and can fit almost anywhere – I also like how it would make a kid think instead of just moving their fingers on a game.
Nice review!
