If you follow me on Twitter, you may have noticed that I wrote that I’ve been blogging liked I’ve never blogged before. And if you follow Tech Savvy Mama via e-mail, feed, or by clicking, I am sure you were confused because obviously I haven’t been blogging up a storm here.
So where have I been and what have I been doing? I wish I could say that I was on some wonderful exotic vacation paid for by my new corporate sponsor but that just isn’t the case. Nor was I having my IPO.
If you are the parent of a preschooler or a parent of an about-to-be-preschooler you may have heard of SavvySource. SavvySource is a site that serves as a resource to help parents navigate choosing and gaining admission to preschools through parent reviews and the first-hand information from school directors. SavvySource just launched Being Savvy City Sites in over 20 cities across the nation with many more to come in the next week or so.
As the Being Savvy “City Expert” for Washington DC, I’ve been writing like crazy to recommend activities for the 2-6 year old set each and every day. Ok, I do take the weekends off .
Some of my favorite topics include:
- ice cream parlors for birthday parties
- educating your budding artist with a scavenger hunt at the National Gallery
- ways to indulge a tea party obsessed child
- discovering birds at the National Zoo
- 50 things to do with a child in the DC Metro Area before they grow up
While I love using my background in teaching to make these events educational, the nights where I was up late writing multiple posts a night made me question why I’m actually qualified to be the Washington DC City Expert. So if you are local to the DC Metro Area and want some new ideas of things to do this summer, stop on by. Feel free to e-mail me if you have some things you’d like me to cover. I’m all ears since I’m posting every day Monday through Friday!
If you aren’t in DC, chances are there is a Being Savvy City Site for your area. Look on the right hand side of the screen under “visit another being savvy city” for the pull-down menu which contains a crazy huge list of other cities which is growing each day.
And don’t worry, I’ll be back to writing about my favorite websites of the week for children again soon and have some great giveaways planned for my loyal Tech Savvy Mama readers the summer!
