Little Miss Techie snuck up behind me one day and was scanning the contents of my inbox. Most of the time I love that she can read but other times it can spoil surprises. Case in point- “Mommy, that says Disney on Ice. Remember when we went last year? I loooooved that show! Is it coming again? I’d really like to go!”
Don’t tell Little Miss Techie but we are going this year and I’m looking forward to the new Disney on Ice Celebrations brings over 60 characters for a party on ice that celebrates 100 years of Disney and special occasions that occur throughout the year.
I’m looking forward to going to see the show right before Halloween and have the Disney villains to put us in the mood for Halloween night with their Halloween haunt. I know Little Miss Techie will be wowed by that will feature the Disney Princesses. I can’t wait to hear Captain Computer’s burst out in laughter at Very Merry Unbirthday Party from Alice in Wonderland! And we’ll get to reminisce about last year’s great Hawaiian vacation when we see Lilo and Stitch in their version of a Hawaiian luau. Just as last year, I am sure that this year’s Celebrations show will be action-packed and full of some of my favorite Disney songs from my childhood visits to Disneyland.

Picking a favorite Disney memory will be tough, but one that stands out for us took place three days after 9/11. My boss, very generously, let me take my scheduled leave, that was to start at 3 PM on 9/11. Just before all leaves were cancelled, she told me to turn off my cell phone and leave, so that Mrs, Gunfighter, soccer girl (who wasn’t quite 3) and I could get out of town.
The next day, we were at Main Street in the Magic Kingdom, and it looked like a ghost town. It wasn’t the best of vacations, but wehat it did was teach us that the threshold for vacation failure is awfully high. If we could still have some degree of fun under those circumstances, any other vacation disaster would be smal potatoes. This lesson has served us well over the following years when being at Disney for tropical storm Danielle, Irene, Hurricane Charley, and on the very edges of Katrina.
As long as we are together, it’s always good.
As for performances go, we would prefer to go to the Fairfax show, and my email is attached.
I would love to go to this show. And oh yeah, my kids would love it too. We went all the way to Pittsburgh to see the show last year! My favorite Disney memory was my sister being afraid of the pirates of the carribean ride and me loving it – I was 4 she was 7.
We’d be happy seeing either the Fairfax or Baltimore show. Thank you! katrinaemmerson at yahoo dot com
How fun! We’d love to attend the Baltimore show. Christmas is definitely my favorite celebration. As for Disney moments, I have to say I’ve never appreciated Disney movies more ever since Lucas started enjoying them.
We would be happy to go to either Baltimore or Ffx to see Disney on Ice. Someone, S still remembers that we went last year and has been asking.
Ever since S has discovered the existence of Disneyworld (thanks to the nurse at my OB’s office), she has been begging to go. Thankfully, I’ve been able to turn this into “Let’s save money in your bank” lesson. So every penny, coin, etc, she finds on the ground goes right into her Disney fund!
