Angry Birds have been caught and are being smuggled to Rio de Janiero in Angry Birds Rio, the newest app now available through the Amazon App store for Android and Apple’s iTunes ($0.99).
In Angry Birds Rio, the original Angry Birds are kidnapped and transported to Rio where their goal is to escape their captors and save Blu and Jewel, their two rare macaw friends. Just like the original, Rio has multiple levels for game playing fun and additional content will be released via app updates. Angry Birds Rio will help ensure that the franchise remains on top download lists, following in the footsteps of the original highly addictive app that is the #1 download in many countries around the globe.
The app release helps build hype for RIO, the movie that debuts in theaters on April 15 and stars the app’s macaws, Blu and Jewel.
Movie synopsis:
From the makers of the hit ICE AGE
series comes RIO, a comedy adventure about taking a walk on the wild side. Blu is a domesticated Macaw who never learned to fly, living a comfortable life with his owner and best friend Linda in the small town of Moose Lake, Minnesota. Blu and Linda think he’s the last of his kind, but when they learn about another Macaw who lives in Rio de Janeiro, they head to the faraway and exotic land to find Jewel, Blu’s female counterpart. Not long after they arrive, Blu and Jewel are kidnapped by a group of bungling animal smugglers. With the help of street smart Jewel, and a group of wise-cracking and smooth-talking city birds, Blu escapes. Now, with his new friends by his side, Blu will have to find the courage to learn to fly, thwart the kidnappers who are hot on their trail, and return to Linda, the best friend a bird ever had.

Okay okay confession time….
I Use to make fun of Angry Birds players until I started playing. I play all the time. As a WAHM I have a 3 year old and 4 month old home with me which leaves little time for working. I hate to ignore them but my obsession is bad! Just a couple of weeks ago I was laying on the living room floor playing AB on my iPhone while the baby played in his jumper. I had my iPhone up ove my head as I played but I accidently dropped my phone and gave myself a black eye!! It hurt so badly. I didn’t intend on telling my not-so-addicted husband what truly happened but my 3 year old yelled “Angry Birds did it!” I was busted!

We’ve already downloaded it! DS LOVES LOVES LOVES Angry Birds! He’s so much better than I am, but I still play because it’s a great stress break. My favorite right now is the Halloween one on Seasons- seems easier so it’s an ego-boost!
Well, naturally *I* love Angry Birds, but maybe my kid Jack should win because he spent a lot of time OBSESSED with the game. And if you know autistic kids, you know what OBSESSED means. 🙂 He would hum the theme song (humming pitch perfect background music is one of the funny little things he does) and he would draw his own levels—at home, at school. He would tell his teachers about it. He would sneak my iPhone from me (and then drain the battery). He’s a big fan.
I have all three versions and have cleared both the original and seasons versions. I have put a dent in Rio, but since I have had meetings every night this week haven’t quite finished that one yet…
My current goal is to get three stars in every scene. There is one where I get them all in one shot and still only get one star. It is driving me crazy!
I love Angry Birds, my teenage son got me addicted to it, to the point where even if I have to go to the bathroom, that won’t stop me from playing. Well, two weeks ago I was playing so intently that when I got up from the toilet, I tried to stand up and play at the same time, and I dropped my cell phone in the toilet! How embarassing! When I told my family what happened, they laughed so hard at me and said I must be addicted. It wasn’t funny then, but it’s funny now. 🙂

My son is so addicted to Angry Birds! He’s only 7, and a lot of games elude him still. It amazes me how he’s figured out the correct angles to beat these levels in a heartbeat! We actually have Angry Birds on our iPad and our iPod Touch. He’s so obsessed, he has to beat a level on the iPod, then beat it on the iPad. He doesn’t move on until he beats both! It’s hilarious!

Love Angry Birds and now Rio! And my confession is that I have drained my battery and missed an important call because of my addiction! It’s just sad! Now I have to carry my charging cable so I can charge it!
We we first got Angry Birds I thought it was cute. Then when I started walking into doors and furniture because I had the iPad in one hand while I flicked bird after bird in a demented campaign to destroy green pigs, I realized I was addicted. My family attempted an intervention but it failed as they all just wanted to get the iPad from me to play Angry Birds.
