Bing Travel: Finding Affordable Flights Made Easy and New Bing Rewards

As someone who has taken her fair share of trips recently, I shudder to think about what planning a trip was like before the internet.  Securing a seat on a plane in order to travel cross country for college involved either making a call to a family friend who was a travel agent or endless wait times on hold with various airlines to research the best fares.  I had to trust that the flight times were the best and that they knew when the fares would be the cheapest.

These days I can’t imagine using someone else to plan my trips for me.  When I research a flight, I pull up price comparison sites like Bing Travel.  Bing Travel is so easy to use.  Entering in departure city and destination, along with travel dates yields results that can include comparison searches of popular travel search engines as I search through airfares from all the major airlines.

Having to enter just enough information yields fast search results.
I’m also a huge fan of Bing’s Farecast Technology that helps predict flight prices so I can determine if fares are rising or dropping or if I should buy or wait.  Bing’s predictive technology is approximately 75% accurate and helps customers save an average of $50 per round trip.

Since I recently found out that my Room of Your Own panel proposal for BlogHer has been accepted, I’ve been looking into flights to San Diego.  According to Bing Travel, now is a great time to buy!

Since I’m a huge fan of frequent flier programs, I’m happy to learn that Bing now has the Bing Rewards Preview program that allows you to earn credits for searching and exploring various features of Bing. Once credits add up, redeem them toward gift cards, buy merchandise, or even give to charity.
There are two easy ways to start earning and tracking your credits:
  • Go the Bing Bar route. Just install the Bing Bar toolbar onto your browser and register, and you can watch the Rewards credit counter climb.
  • Go to Bing.com on the Web. Just complete the registration form and track your progress by checking the Rewards credit counter located on the top right of the Bing.com header.
Upon signing up, you’ll automatically start with 250 credits!

Once you’ve accumulated credits (to give you an idea, 1338 credits can get you a $10 Starbucks gift card- nice!), head to the Redemption Center and start shopping. 

Beyond getting your caffeine fix, fuel your makeup obsession with a Sephora giftcard with no guilt about splurging on that pricey mascara you’ve been wanting. Or choose to buy just about anything you want by choosing an Amazon.com giftcard.
