When I was in middle and high school, I read my horoscope obsessively. I believed in the power of dreams and tried to figure out what my they were telling me by devouring books about dream symbolism. I took everything with a grain of salt but it was still fun to think about.
Grounded in the real world as a busy mom of two kids, I’m more in the here and now rather than daydreaming about the future. I make decisions according to what’s sensible instead of what a horoscope might suggest or a dream could imply.
When I was approached by Clever Girls Collective to review the Karizmac Luminous, I was curious about the app that shows how daily decisions are indicators of your personality, inner strengths, and how your choices can shape personal growth over time. It seemed like a combination of the Myers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator and the daily horoscopes.
The interactive app works by agreeing or disagreeing to 9 statements in two of the six categories— Interpretation, Perspectives, Dynamics, Reflections, Clarity, and Visions. Each response signifies what your choice implies and helps build your personal Charisma Map. After each statement is recorded, you are compared to a notable woman in history who thought similarly. After a total of 18 questions, your Charisma Map is drawn to reveal what your answers say about you today.
Here is what my Charisma Map from today looked like!

Today I selected to answer questions in the Vision category and was compared to Helen Keller, Ann Curry, Margaret Thatcher, Caroline Kennedy, Madeline Albright. Some of the statements in the Clarity category that I responded to included:
- Beauty opens the door to opportunity and to success
- In order to get respect, you have to give respect.
- If the shoe doesn’t fit, don’t try to wear it
- Intuition is a woman’s most valuable asset to achieve success
- No matter what your goals are, it’s good to have a college degree agree
- Power is held by the wealthy
- There are some things that a woman just can’t learn. It would be a waste to try to teach them
I have tranquility like Mary J Blige, interdependence like Christina Aguilera and Marie Curie, emotionality like Jewel, authority like Brooke Sheilds, and a little bit of rebellion like Eva Peron and Mary Lyon, the founder of Mount Holyoke College, the womens’ college of which I happen to be an aluma!
I’m a little rebellious like Mary Lyon, founder of Mount
Holyoke College, where I went to school!
Every time that I create a Charisma Map, it’s stored on my iPad which allows me to revisit them to see how my feelings could have influenced my day’s decisions. I like how the Charisma Map is a personal journal that shows how I’m thinking presenting through an artistic constellation chart. I enjoy flipping through my maps or tapping on each star to read about notable women. I love how it takes so little time to complete a map by just agreeing or disagreeing to 18 questions.
And while I may no longer grab the paper so I can flip to my daily horoscope, I might just start making a Charisma Map daily!
