I love food. Shopping for it, growing it, preparing it, and eating it. Eating it is even better when during restaurant week deals that allow me to try new places that I’ve been wanting to visit in an affordable way.
DC Metro readers get two weekends to experience the many restaurants that are being featured during Rockville Restaurant Week. Held over two weekends, Rockville Restaurant Week features $15 lunch and $30 dinner menus to allow diners to try new places or revisit favorites.
The Rockville restaurant scene features cuisine from around the world. From family friendly eateries to date night spots and including Indian, Thai, tapas, Mexican, Italian, Japanese, and more, there’s something for everyone when dining in Rockville between September 10-18.
We recently had the opportunity to sample the fare at Taste of Saigon, one of the participating Restaurant Week locations. Taste of Saigon features French-inspired Vietnamese cuisine and is a family restaurant that was founded by refugees who wanted to rebuild their lives after fleeing Vietnam. Their American dream is represented in the delicious menu that adults and kids can enjoy either indoors our out on a patio during the warm weather months.
Even if your children aren’t the most adventurous eaters, Taste of Saigon has plenty of dishes that accommodate everyone’s tastes. Soft imperial rolls with a tasty peanut sauce and grilled lemongrass beef from the starter menu are finger friendly eats that are a healthy way to start out the meal and fill hungry stomachs quickly.
For our larger shared dishes, the kids devoured Ma Tu’s Signature Dish, featuring a slightly sweet sauce infused with mild pepper that came with a generous side of steamed carrots and broccoli.

My husband and I enjoyed the Ginger Chicken with the plethora of fresh ginger and some additional heat from red pepper flakes.

We also ordered a crepe stuffed with shrimp, chicken, and beansprouts which was absolutely huge and came with quick pickled carrots and a dipping sauce.

Little Miss Techie has already asked to return to Taste of Saigon for the Ma Tu dish as her birthday dinner!

Rockville Restaurant Week’s website features a list of participating restaurants along with FAQs whose answers might be helpful in providing information about reservations.
Our family was provided with a $25 gift card to facilitate our review of a participating restaurant. The rest of our dinner at Taste of Saigon was personally paid for. All opinions are my own and those of my fellow diners!
