I downloaded Constant Guard on one of my computers (thankfully, not the entire household) and cannot descibe the instantaneous nightmare that followed. Malware screens that led to nothing upon virus scanning…”help” from tech support that was anything but helpful, as the rep had no clue as to how to rid myself of the lingering, un-cancelable screen, Just too many annoyances to list, and when I decided to uninstall, it was nearly impossible. I had to go to a “make Constant Guard go away” blog and find out that there was a cleaning tool that I had to download to make it go away. NIGHTMARE. I suggest downloading the free Norton and skipping Constant Guard.

I mistakenly installed Constant Guard, thinking how bad can it be? Well, it certainly slowed down my PC and performed all sorts of annoying tasks that I didn’t really get to enjoy to their fullest. I discovered early on that the Constant Guard software intrudes upon your PCs ability to use a DNS service, and it insists that you use Comcast’s DNS. I discovered this because the application locked me out (the “DNS Service” is called DNS Lock) of my home network. I could only go to the public Internet. Once I discovered this fact, I uninstalled the application using the Microsoft Windows 7 uninstall program. But that didn’t work very well as I still have lingering problems on my home network caused by this application, of which Comcast is probably immensely proud. I will try the cleaning tool, but I fear that it too will fail.
