Poppit: Free Online Game Teaches Fine Motor Skills and Color Matching

Gaming often gets a bad rap. I suppose it can be as addictive, passive, expensive, isolating, and as much of a time suck as you allow it to be but there are also positive effects for all ages.  These days online games are developed by some of the leading video game companies to provide quality interactive educational experiences and serve as a welcome break from other online tasks.
Companies like Electronic Arts (EA) who are known for titles like Madden NFL, The Sims, FIFA, and Medal of Honor diversify their offerings by creating family friendly online games available through   Free games like Scrabble and Word Whomp are great games for kids to practice spelling skills over the summer while Poppit serves as a way younger children can practice mouse control, fine motor skills, and color matching through a fun game where the goal is to pop two or more balloons of the same color to release prizes hidden within.
Don’t tell the kids but I secretly love playing Poppit.  The game takes just a minute or so to complete and is super easy.  Plus there’s something quite therapeutic about popping balloons, watching them float up, and seeing how well I did at the end of the game.

    Some of Pogo’s games have chat built into the game and while there are basic chat filters, a lot of conversations are not child-friendly (heck, they’re not even adult friendly sometimes). If your kids are playing, you’ll definitely want to turn chat off by clicking the gear icon above the “Who’s Here” list, then choosing “Show Chat” so it’s unchecked.

    In addition, if you upgrade your membership to Club Pogo, it’s completely ad-free. There’s no reason not to upgrade these days because there are so many ways to get Club Pogo for free.
