Facebook updates of friends telling me they’ve unplugged and gone to the beach for the week has the wheels in my head turning. Sure, we went on a fantastic vacation (more on that later!) but we haven’t had any beach time this year! Despite the traveling I’ve done, we’ve never done a family road trip to the Outer Banks or Hilton Head so I’m thinking that a last minute beachy vacation could be a welcome getaway over Labor Day weekend.
I’d love to pack up for a long weekend and drive the scenic route for an Exit the Highway road trip inspired by Toyota and the National Audubon Society. With a weekend trip, there’s no prepping for a week’s stay at a beach house, packing endless amounts of stuff, or doing tons of laundry post-trip and we can take the time together in the car to play classic games like license plate bingo, sing along to our favorite songs on the radio, and talk. Imagine that!
I’m mighty tempted to book a stay and Exit the Highway and go to The Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort to take advantage of their Family Adventure Package.
Ranked the ninth best island in the U.S. by Conde Nast magazine, The Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort would be a fabulous place to build sand castles, explore the 11-mile lagoon system at Palmetto dunes. The kids would love to fly a kite on the white sand South Carolina beaches and enjoy the warm waters of the Atlantic.
The Family Adventure package includes:
- Children’s pail/shovel and kite to fly on the beach for each registered child ($20 value for two children)
- Picture frame for each registered child to decorate ($38 value for two children)
- Disposable camera to capture those memories ($16 value)
- Smore’s Kit ($18 value)
- Full day’s beach chair and umbrella rental for each registered adult: ($30 value for two adults)
- Two hours of Kids Camp per registered child (valued at $80 for two children)
Wouldn’t you want a long weekend as one last summer getaway? If you’re planning a road trip over Labor Day weekend, register to take the pledge to Exit the Highway for your chance to win a new Toyota Prius V.
This post was inspired by my work with Toyota and the Toyota Women’s Influencer Network (TWIN). I was selected for participation in the TWIN community through a program with Clever Girls Collective. All opinions are my own but Omni’s pitch just made me want to savor summer with one last family vacation! Images courtesy of Omni, Toyota, and Microsoft Images.

Indeed–this is so tempting! Did someone say kid’s camp??? 🙂
Wow–that sounds amazing! I’ve never been to Hilton Head–it looks beautiful!
