For anyone who was excited to read about Findery but disappointed to find out that it was only for iPhone, your wait for Android is over! Yesterday Findery announced the release of a new Android app to help people discover the world, one note at a time. The free Android app allows users to explore every country in the world.
Available from the Google Play Store, Findery for Android uses the current location to surface interesting local notes or wander the world using your current location. While globetrotting, you can easily search for notes about the places you’re visiting while on the go to read notes left by Findery users.
Notes can include anything- text, video, and even a photo to share local history, folklore, interesting facts, or memories about a place you’ve visited. Notemaps are a curated collection of notes about a particular topic, theme or location. Members can add their own notes and notes from others to create organized file folder-like notemaps. I’m working on creating a Notemap of all of my favorite travel photos!
While I love the visual layout of Findery, I also enjoy the social aspect. Members can follow other members and receive notifications when those members have posted new notes. This type of interaction encourages activity and positive interactions among members.
About Findery:
Findery, a social discovery platform that lets you share stories and discover places near and far, today announced the availability of its latest mobile app: Findery for Android. With the app, Findery users can search and find interesting information about their current location through personal stories, hidden histories and local tips; or share their own experiences and leave notes and photos about the meaningful places they’ve found and love.
For more information about Findery, visit my notes and notemaps or download it for free from Google Play.
This app would be great for backpackers! Glad to hear that it’s available for android.
